Arrival and Short Interview Moscow (Russia)

Arrival and Short Interview, Moscow Russia 1993-08-06 Again, I’m back here in Moscow. Where the people are great seekers of Truth. And absolutely ready to achieve their self-realization. Which is the goal of our human life. As Christ has said that we are to be born again, it happens. Yoga is no religion. It is the union with All-pervading Divine Love. That is the right of every person. Every human being. Here now we have people from Finland, from England, from Germany, from Austria who have come to help my work in Russia. They are all your brothers and sisters. Hope to see you this evening, all of you, for the program. All right. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you, Mother.

Why are we slaves of all sorts of ideologies? Hamburg (Germany)

1993-07-22 Public Program Hamburg, Germany I bow to all the seekers of truth. At the very out set we have to know that truth is what it is. We cannot change it, we cannot conceptualise it, at this human state. Whatever I want to tell you today, you are not to accept it blindfolded, but you should have an open mind of a scientist and if it works, then you have to accept, as honest people, because it is for the benevolence of every Individual and for the benevolence of your country and for the benevolence of the whole world. These are special times when we are born. I call it as a blossom time, where many seekers of truth are born, but they have to know first of all, what is the truth. First thing is that you are not this body, this mind, this intelligence, this ego, these conditionings, but you are the pure spirit. The second truth is that there is a subtle, all-pervading power of divine love and this power does all the living work. We see these beautiful flowers and we take them for granted. We don’t even think that it’s a miracle, how from one seed these flowers have come, also who runs our heart. Doctors will say autonomous nervous system, but who is this auto. We have science but it cannot give us answers fully. It cannot answer, why are we here on this earth. It cannot answer what is our purpose of Read More …

Public Program Geneva (Switzerland)

Public Program, Geneva, Switzerland, 08-07-1993 I bow to all the seekers of truth at the very outset. One has to know that truth is what it’s, we cannot purchase it. We cannot conceptualise it. We have to feel, we have to experience it. Also, only those who are seekers of truth will find it. Those who do not want to seek the truth and are satisfied with themselves, it cannot happen. One has to be truthful seekers and honest and must have a pure desire to seek the truth. Now, whatever I’m going to tell you today, you don’t have to accept it as blindly people, but keep your mind open like a scientist and if it works out, then you have to believe as honest people because this is for the emancipation, a whole human race because it is the solution for all our problems. It is for the benevolent of human beings. It’s the fulfilment of the promises given to us by all incarnations and it is the last breakthrough of our evolution, but it cannot work out for people who are conditioned, not can it work out on people who are egotistical and an aggressive when asked to accept that we do not have the truth. We do not have the solutions with that humility, only you can achieve this real state of awareness. It’s as you see here is a subtle centre placed. It’s a subtle system which all of you have. All of you have Read More …

Human Awareness and Limited Rationality Aula Magna di Santa Lucia, Bologna (Italy)

Bologna Public Program (Italy) I bow to all the seekers of truth. At the very outset, we have to know that the truth is what it is. We cannot change it, we cannot describe it, we cannot conceptualize it. Whatever I am going to tell you, you are not to believe me blindfolded, but you must keep your mind open like a scientist. Treat my speech as a hypothesis, and if proved then you must accept it as honest people. It is for your individual benevolence, benevolence of your city, your country, and the whole world. The truth is that you are not this body, mind, emotions, intellect, ego and your conditionings. But you are the Spirit, the pure Spirit. The second truth is that there is an All-pervading Power of divine love which does all living work. We see these beautiful flowers here and we take it for granted, which is a miracle. In the same way, our body is functioning, our heart is running, and we take it for granted. Doctors say it is the autonomous nervous system, but who is this ‘auto’? In the evolutionary process, we have now reached the state of human awareness. But human awareness is relative. We try to justify everything through our rationality. Hitler could justify his war through his limited rationality. But we have to reach the absolute truth. Unless and until we know the absolute, there will always be fighting and quarrelling going on. Now, within us is placed, you Read More …

Jadish Prasad Concert Ganapatipule (India)

Jadish Prasad Concert, Ganapatipule, India, 25-12-1992 It was such a treat, after such a long time I could hear such a great master of music tonight and you two all enjoyed very much, I could see the way you are glued to your places. I mean, I don’t know how we are so lucky that we get all the talents, all the beautiful blessings, even in music which is very difficult to achieve in this far off place like a jungle. I hope you all have enjoyed it very much. I have now heard our Guruji’s Guru and I have heard also his Guru, I am as old as that. And the beauty of his music is that he doesn’t get, I should say, excited very much, very relaxed. His Guruji was used to rise about half way while singing. Of course he was very great singer, no doubt, but he used to do that way and then you come down and then again he used to rise. He is a very, very nice person, extremely nice and just lost in the music. Now after such a long time I could hear the echo of that great music and I must thank him very much for creating such good artists like our Guruji, his own son and the little one who has shown such miraculous powers. So we have to thank him very much, again and again, please give him a hand. Also he has promised to come with Babamama Read More …

Christmas Puja: Express Christ In Your Life Ganapatipule (India)

Christmas Puja, Ganapatipule (India), 25 December 1992. [English translation from Hindi] Today, we are celebrating Jesus Christ’s birthday. His incarnation was a very great thing. And, about Him, there is description in the scriptures also, as to how Mahavishnu’s incarnation will take place in this world, and He will become the foundation of the whole world. But, since the religion started taking an opposite direction, it got diverted to various different forms, and everything got drowned into darkness and ignorance. Therefore, the unity of dharma on this beautiful tree of divine power, where one after another beautiful incarnations took birth, got divided into different religions which were established. And, by taking these dead flowers, human beings made their own religions and started fighting. Jesus Christ is the incarnation of Shri Ganesha. and there is proof for this. About this proof I will tell you later in English. But from His life we have to learn that the life of Jesus Christ was extremely pure. Just like Shri Ganesha is pure, similarly, after taking His incarnation in this world, and while being in this world, He lived in complete purity, because impurity just couldn’t touch Him. This was how extraordinary His incarnation was. And because of this incarnation in this world a very big event took place, that our Agnya chakra got opened. As He was crucified on the cross, our Agnya chakra got opened and this was a great boon granted by Him. He had to do this so He Read More …

Shri Vishnumaya Puja: Stop Feeling Guilty Shawnee on Delaware (United States)

Shri Vishnumaya puja. Shawnee, Pennsylvania (USA), 20 September 1992. Today, we have decided to have a Vishnumaya Puja. In this context, one has to know who is this Vishnumaya and what is Her – you can call it mythological [Shri Mataji laughs gently] – but a historical relationship. I have told you that America is the country of Shri Krishna and He’s Kubera, as well as He’s Yama. Because He’s Kubera, people have got their affluence, they are rich people, they have money, more than anywhere else, but if you do not remember, that you have to have balance and that Shri Krishna’s power is of Mahalakshmi. So, Mahalakshmi Principle is such that where seeking is important, Vishnu Principle is there when Shri Lakshmi is His power. After getting the Lakshmi up to a certain point, then you jump into a new awareness or a new sort of a seeking which is the seeking of the spirit where the Mahalakshmi principle starts, the central path. That far, of course, in America it started, the Mahalakshmi Principle, but people did not know, they had no discretion to know which way to go for their seeking and so many got enamoured by false advertisements, by all kinds of promises, claims and things and I came here long time back at that moment where I knew that the seeking now is showing results and that all the people from all over the world will try to come down here because there was a Read More …

Sitar Concert by Debu Chauduri with Talks of Shri Mataji, Eve Of Shri Vishnumaya Puja Shawnee on Delaware (United States)

Sitar Concert by Debu Chauduri with Talks of Shri Mataji, Eve Of Shri Vishnumaya Puja I have never studied music but somehow in my family there is so much of music that only it is an ocean of music, so only listening to it you know so much. So now he is going to play to you as you know Darbari Kannada. This raga was composed by a very great musician called Tansen and is the majestic raga where you describe the court of the Goddess or of God or of a king. So it has that majesty in it. And also in this raga first they play the lower notes, that is the beauty about it. So are you settled down well in the understanding of that particular raga, in the sense that it creates a feeling of that dignity of that majestic nature in you. First by playing the lower notes in a very deep way. Then this raga is expanded more, later on. The beauty of this is that very high notes are suddenly brought down to a lower note. So that is a kind of a movement of your attention from the higher notes to the lower notes. It’s a remarkable feat also on this instrument. So he was telling me that his fingers are full of grooves which sometimes bleed and this bleeding was so much that I had to stop it, his bleeding. So he plays for you, he is suffering here with pain Read More …

Shri Mahalakshmi Puja: Morality is extremely important St. Petersburg (Russia)

Shri Mahalakshmi Puja, Russia, 1922-08-09 Today we are going to worship Mahalakshmi principle within us. As we know very well Mahalakshmi Principle resides in the central part of our being. Through which Kundalini has to rise. But Kundalini enters our body in the left side. In the sense that its the residual power of deity everything left side right side and then She enters into our sacrum. So in the Mahalakshmi temple in Kulamlpur they sing a song of Kundalini ambe that oh Amba please rise, kundalini please rise. In the Mahalakshmi temple, they have to do it because through Mahalakshmi channel she rises. Now the Mahalakshmi principle within us starts manifesting when our Lakshmi principle is complete. Mahalakshmi principle is ascent above all material seeking. Lakshmi principle is when people are seeking more material wealth. But there is no end to Lakshmi principle also. as the economics says that wants in general are nor satiable. So well want something today we get it but we are not satisfied and we want to have another thing and we are not satisfied so we go on asking for more and more. But once we realise that this mad pace is too much then we start thinking what should be the next. Communism has brought lots of things to you. You may be angry with people who brought communism but actually they have done so much good to you, you have no idea. First of all, you did not have idea of Read More …

Truth is to be known as the evolutionary process on your central nervous system Uniwersytet Warszawski, Warsaw (Poland)

Public Program, Warsaw, Poland, 31 July 1992 I bow to all the seekers of truth. At the very outset, we have to know that truth is what it is. We cannot think about it, we cannot conceptualise it and we cannot read about it. At this human awareness, unfortunately we cannot know it. You have to go to a subtler state of becoming a Spirit otherwise you will not know what is the truth. Truth is to be known as the evolutionary process on your central nervous system. It is not mental knowledge. Now, I will tell you what is the truth. You have to keep your mind open like scientists and treat whatever I am saying as a hypothesis and if it is proved, then you have to accept it as honest people, because it is for your benevolence and for the benevolence of the whole world. Now, the truth is that you are not this body, this mind, these conditionings, this ego but you are the pure Spirit. Another truth is that there is an all-pervading Power of divine love which does all the living work. We see these beautiful flowers and we take them for granted. They are a miracle. We see with these eyes: it’s a miracle, it’s a camera. Wonderful. What about this human brain? It’s a computer. All these things we take for granted. Who runs your heart? The doctors say it’s an autonomous nervous system. But who is this ‘auto’? We have to Read More …

Evening Program Two Plays: Blake Play, The Seekers Eve Of Guru Puja Campus, Cabella Ligure (Italy)

Evening Program, Eve of Guru puja, Cabella Ligure (Italy), 18/07/1992 I have to make a little request to all of you that, this program is hosted by Italians and Germans, so they are the hosts. So allow other people to sit in front, would be better, they are your guests, specially people who are coming from far away, like we have people coming from all the way – like Canada, America. Also this side, we have people from England, also people who are coming from Turkey, India, Hong Kong, Australia; they should be given some better place to sit down. And the ladies who are – especially ladies –who are from Italy and Germany, should move more out a little bit, so they get a better chance to come forward. And of course, the leaders have to be in front no doubt. [Shri Mataji giggles] And also the musicians should be in front. [Yogi takes microphone and announces more countries and individual names to come in front, at Shri Mataji’s request. Program resumes]  Babamama: Before we commence the singing, I have a confession to make before you all. As a brother of Shri Mataji, I have known Her for fifty-nine years now, and I can tell you that, this aspect of Her was not known to me till today, or till yesterday, and I was quite taken aback – as a brother – when I saw that She was composing so beautifully, and in chaste Hindustani classical music. Shri Vishnumaya Puja: She is the daughter of Mahakali Ashram Everbeek, Everbeek (Belgium)

Shri Vishnumaya Puja, Ashram Everbeek (Belgium), 4 July 1992. Talk starts at 17:44 on video It’s a unique opportunity today to do Vishnumaya Puja because She entered into this house [Shri Mataji laughing], we have to worship Her.First we should know who is Vishnumaya. It’s very important to know because in the Devi Mahatmyam She is only described as the Incarnation of the Goddess: “Vishnumaya iti shabdita” [chant 5], She is called as Vishnumaya. But let’s see who is She? After all, this Vishnumaya is who? So Vishnumaya is the Kali, we can say, and is the daughter of Mahakali. She came on this earth and killed many, many devils and many rakshasas to save the saints from their aggression and She always acts in that manner to kill all the negativity of the world. She is very quick at it, I should say, and She knows where is the negativity and She tries to burn that negativity as fast as possible. Now the origin is like this that this Vishnumaya was the daughter of Mahakali who was created by Mahakali Herself to fight these demons, but also She was given special weapons to do this work. But at the time of Shri Krishna She was born as the sister of Shri Krishna, and instead of Shri Krishna being killed by Her uncle, as you know the story is, She was exchanged, She was actually the daughter of Yeshoda, exchanged for Shri Krishna. And this girl, little girl was killed by the uncle Read More …

The Nature of the Spirit Hotel Metropole, Brussels (Belgium)

Public Program: Day 2 I bow to all the seekers of truth. [aside: Why don’t you sit here, it’ll be better, they are all trying to see your faces, sit here.] All right, you all can see him now? Yesterday I told you at the very outset that, truth is where it is, we cannot change it, we cannot conceptualise it. Also, we cannot pay for it and we cannot put in any human effort to achieve it. Unfortunately also, we cannot know or feel the truth at human awareness with this human awareness. Yesterday I had told you that I will tell you the nature of the Spirit. But today I find lots of new faces also, so I would like to say that we have to become the Spirit, a stage, a state by which we can know the truth. And this is what has been said in all the scriptures. And yesterday I told you how your faith is challenged by the science, discoveries and also by the so-called religions, which are money-oriented or power-oriented. So today we have to know what is the state in which we have to rise. Yesterday I told you that, when this power of Kundalini rises, then you achieve a state of thoughtless awareness, where you are in the present. In that state you can feel your own self, your own centres, thus you get self-knowledge. And the second manifestation is that, on your central nervous system, you develop a new Read More …

How to feel the present? Palais des Beaux Arts, Brussels (Belgium)

Public Program: Day 1 Yogi [aside to Shri Mataji]: These people do not understand Dutch. Shri Mataji: All right. The French, how many are French? Ah, English – how many understand English? [Yogis ask audience in Dutch and French] All right, we could have in three languages. [laughter and applause] I bow to all the seekers of truth. At the very outset, I have to say that truth is what it is. [microphone is adjusted, as Shri Mataji says, laughing: No-one understands English, so what’s the use?] And unfortunately, with this human awareness, we cannot feel the truth. Whatever we have achieved in our evolution, we can feel it. For example, if you take a dog through a dirty, smelling place, he doesn’t feel anything bad. But human beings are different. They have a sense of colour, they have a sense of beauty and they can think for themselves, and also can make implements for themselves. Now whatever I’m going to tell you, you don’t have to believe it with blind faith, but you have to treat it as a hypothesis and if it is proved, you must accept as honest people. Because it is not only for your benevolence, but for the benevolence of the whole world. It is not only for your emancipation, but for the emancipation of the whole world. The truth is that, you are not this body, this mind, these emotions, this ego, but you are the pure Spirit.  The second truth is that, there Read More …

The culmination of our evolution Kunstcentrum Artemis, Amsterdam (Holland)

Public Program Day 1, First Evening, “Artemis Arts Centre”, Amsterdam, 1st July 1992 I bow to all the seekers of truth. At the very outset one has to know that truth is what it is. You cannot change it. You cannot conceptualise it. You have to accept it as it is. Unfortunately, at the human level you cannot know the truth. You have to become the Spirit. It is not just saying that you have to be the Spirit, but you have to become. It is an actualization for which there is a mechanism beautifully placed within you. And it’s the culmination of our evolution now. I see you all here as seekers of truth. This is a new category of people. As William Blake* has described; “Men of God will be born on this earth, and they will know God, they will know divinity; and they will have the power to give divinity to others.” And this is the time when one has to get to your Self-realisation. When I see western people seeking, I find that there is a basic reason why there is such a strong desire to seek, because we are born with a faith within ourselves. It is there, innately built in. We have faith in our future, and innately we have the faith that there is something divine. While in the East we have so much talk about the ascent; but in the West, when science challenged your faith, you did not know how Read More …

Debu Chaudhari Concert eve of Sahasrara Puja Campus, Cabella Ligure (Italy)

Debu Chaudhari Concert eve of Sahasrara Puja, Cabella, Italy, 1992-05-09 [2:33:43] We all have to thank our Sahaja yogi brother, brothers we should say, Debu Chaudhari and [UNCLEAR]. I’m very proud of them. [2:34:35] As you know that vibrations travel through music and today I felt the ecstasy of enjoyment, you all were enjoying it so much. It’s a blessing that you are all realised souls, no doubt but it’s a greater blessing that music is so close to the spirit and that it acts in such a beautiful manner that though I mean some of you do not know Indian music, some of you know a few ragas some of them – you know very well. But the way, even enjoying the whole thing, completely rapport. It’s nothing but a spiritual flow of beautiful river of roads. Sometimes it used to be a very silent, simple stream then it would become like a big waterfall then suddenly it would explode then again it would smooth down. Sometimes on the tabla, sometimes on the sitar. I was just watching the flow of the beauty of these ragas especially the [UNCLEAR raga name] which you all appreciate very much. Has a great depth in it and it was played in the courts of great kings, long time back. But the beauty of this has to [be] understood because so many times who have understood that [UNCLEAR raga name] raga is very entertaining, is elevating and also makes you feel very majestic. Public Program (incomplete) Rome (Italy)

Public Program, Rome, Italy, 20-04-1992 I bow to all the seekers of truth. At the very outset we have to know that truth is what it is. We cannot conceptualise it. Nor can we understand at this human awareness. You have to be born again. You have to become the Spirit. In your evolutionary process this is the last stage we have to achieve that you become the Spirit.  Many people have been talking about it. But nobody has paid attention to it. Once you become the Spirit you’ll be amazed how you are transformed. Automatically. You may follow any religion but it is outside. Because whether you are Hindu, Muslim, Christian you can commit any sin. That’s why you have to be the Spirit.  Today I’m going to describe you the quality of the Spirit. First of all you must have been surprised to see how joyously she was singing. Because Spirit is the source of joy. We have already been told that we have to suffer. Why should we suffer? When Christ has suffered for us already. Can we suffer more than He has suffered? There is no need to suffer at all. Only thing is that we are in ignorance. In darkness. And that is why we accept whatever people tell us. Which father would like you to suffer? No sufferings are needed. This power is within you, is your own. So the truth is that you are the Spirit. You are not this body, this mind. Read More …

Easter Puja: You have to grow and take up the responsibility Magliano Sabina Ashram, Magliano Sabina (Italy)

Easter Puja. Magliano Sabina, Rome (Italy), 19 April 1992. This is a great day for all of us to rejoice and to enjoy this Resurrection of Christ. The Resurrection of Christ took place to open our Agnya center because it was a very subtle center as you know, very complicated with the ideas people had from their conditioning and from their ego, were so much clogging the Agnya Chakra that Kundalini could have been impossible to pass through. So all the play of Resurrection took place, and as Christ was nothing but chaitanya, He was resurrected from death so-called. In this death of Christ, we have to also understand that we have achieved our resurrection. We have achieved our resurrection, also whatever was supposed to be the past has died, is finished now. So, this repentance that we have, the conditionings we have are dead. But still it is very surprising that among the Christian nations, the ego did not subside as it should have been, perhaps may be that Christ was never worshipped in the right way. The ego in the West was absolutely, so dominating that nobody could see what they are doing, and how far they are going. Unnecessarily they are repenting about something that is far fetched. But repentance was meant for our ego. It’s very shocking sometimes, when you see how the Christian nations invaded other countries, completely annihilated, completely finished and destroyed races after races. They were Christians, followers of Christ, taking Bible in Read More …

Shri Mahasaraswati Puja: A subtler attitude towards creativity Auckland (New Zealand)

Shri Mahasaraswati Puja, Auckland (New Zealand), 23 February 1992. I see many more New Zealanders, very happy to see all of you here. Today I thought we should have Mahasaraswati’s Puja. Would be a good idea, Because we did Mahalakshmi, let’s have Mahasaraswati. So, Mahasaraswati Principle is on the right side as you all know. First is the Brahmadeva’s Principle, which is the Saraswati Principle, and then this Mahasaraswati takes you to the principle of Mahabrahmadeva called as Hiranyagarbha. Now this Hiranyagarbha Principle is very important for Sahaja Yogis. First of all, those who think too much or those who create too much without realization, those who express themselves in poetry or in literature or in music, you can say, in paintings, in all kinds of arts; if they are not realized souls, then they go to the left to the extreme or to the right. So for example if there is an artist, if he goes to the right gradually his paintings will become extremely violent expressions. Would be very much showing something very violent and also rather, I would say he would be a man who would be inflexible. He’ll have his own style; he can’t move into another style. He’ll use the same style and he will not get into any other style. Kind of a austere nature he develops in his productions and then when he gets tired of it, then he will take to something you can say like abstract art but without realization the Read More …

2nd Day of Navaratri: You are the leaders Palazzo Doria, Cabella Ligure (Italy)

1991-1009 2nd Day Of Navaratri Palazzo Doria Cabella Italy So, today is the second day of Navaratri. I told you yesterday that first the auspiciousness and the holiness was created through the creation of Shri Ganesha. So that this World is fulfilled with auspiciousness and holiness. We can see in the history that people in the olden times cared for auspiciousness and were afraid of God, they had fear for God and they didn’t challenge God at all. But gradually, the evil took over and so this auspiciousness and holiness started getting – not exhausted – but sleeping off. So Ganesha started sleeping, and as Ganesha sleeps, the people are not afraid of God. They think they can do what they like: what can God do, after all, who is He? We don’t see it. They also have no gratitude for what God has done for you. They have no gratitude about the blessings of this universe that he was created, all the beauty that God gave you because they’re ignorant and in ignorance they forget everything. Now the problem started more when Ganesha started sleeping. With his power, people were afraid of God, they were righteous, they wanted to be good people, they didn’t want to commit sins, they didn’t want to do wrong things, they wanted to keep their attention clean and put attention to good things. Such people existed because you can see the temples, the big churches, the big mosques that were built in the name of Read More …

Evening Program: eve of Ganesha Puja Campus, Cabella Ligure (Italy)

Evening Program Eve Of Ganesha Puja, Cabella, Italy, 1991-09-14 Showers, the one which showers, ambrosia and it is in Ektal. Ektal as you know is in twelve beats and he’ll tell you, it is always in a slow pace. Ektala is very slow. So first in according to Indian style of our music, first we build up the foundation with a very meticulous method and it is built not in a hurry or a fast or a speedy way. So the first the foundation is made like that, then gradually it is raised as your own being is first grounded properly and then it is gradually built up into a beautiful theme. I mean it’s a complete creation, it’s a theme, you can call it a complete architecture. You can call it a complete cosmos of the particular raga but I have never heard this raga, I’m very happy that Ajith has decided to sing such a beautiful raga to me. May God bless you and him, all of them.

God Almighty and His Love Štvanice, Prague (Czech Republic)

Public Program Prague, Czech Republic, 17 August 1991 I bow to all the seekers of truth. At the very outset, I have to tell you that truth is what it is. We cannot conceptualize it or we cannot change it. Unfortunately, we cannot also know it with this human awareness. We have to become a subtler being to know the truth; that is, we have to be the spirit. For that one has to understand that it’s a evolutionary living process. It is a living happening within us which makes you the spirit, for which you cannot pay. You cannot put any effort, but it just works because you are seekers of truth. Whatever I am telling you, you have to listen to it with a open mind of a scientist. If it is proved to be the truth, you have to accept it as honest people, because it is for your benevolence and benevolence of the whole world. We see beautiful flowers here, but we take them for granted. We do not even think that they just come from small little seed. Look at our eyes, what a micro-camera it is, but we take it for granted. So, one must understand that there is some power which does this living work. So the first truth is that you are not this body, this mind, this ego or conditionings, but you are, but you are pure spirit. The second truth is that there is a subtle power of divine love Read More …

Talk to Sahaja Yogis Vienna (Austria)

Talk to Sahaja Yogis, Vienna, Austria, 1991-08-04 Shri Mataji: It was really very, very nice of all of you to come to the airport. And all the sadness that I had when I left Belgium has disappeared. It is a very creditable thing that Sahaja Yoga has taken such dimensions in Vienna.  Vienna is a very great, important place in Europe, as you know, a long time back. But Marie Antoinette moved here from Prussia with her [unclear] and her administrative powers. For Me also, Vienna is something very important. And spiritually, we can say it is the spiritual part of Germany. And the great sense about it is that if Germans can take to it, anything can be germinated as they say.  And that’s what it is, such a great thing to see. Such a blessing upon this Earth that you people have taken to Sahaja Yoga. It is not an easy thing to tell you – Sahaja Yoga, normally. People who are so much in the modern world, professing [unclear] and so-called well educated and that is how [unclear]. In [unclear] I should say.  But despite all that, here suddenly you find so many people who have not only understood Sahaja Yoga, but it’s gone to their hearts, their lives and they feel it is so important. Also, you have all taken the responsibility. Because it is now spreading through you to Hungary, and also to Czechoslovakia. Something so remarkable that you have been able to achieve. Guru Puja: Four Obstacles Campus, Cabella Ligure (Italy)

Shri Adi Guru Puja. Cabella Ligure (Italy), July 28th, 1991. Today, you are all here to worship your Guru. It is a common practice, specially in India, that you must worship your guru, and the guru has to fully be in control of his disciples. Guru Principle is extremely strict, and the strictness made many people could not conform to the ideals of a disciple. In those days the guru had to be, absolutely, the authority and it was the guru who would decide which disciples he’ll have. And one had to go into great tapasya, to great penances, to even become a disciple. And this hardship was the only way the guru used to judge. Gurus would always live in jungles and they would select their disciples, very few, very, very few and they had to go and beg food from the neighboring villages, and cook food for their guru with their own hands, and feed the guru. That sort of guru business is not in Sahaja Yoga. That basically we must understand that the difference between those styles of guruship and that we have now is this, that very few individuals were given the chance to become the guru, very few. And these few also were selected out of quite a lot of people and they felt that they were something really special that they are being selected, chosen, and that whatever they will have to go through is all welcome. With this idea, they became the disciples. Read More …

What is a living energy? Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne (Australia)

Public Program Day 2. Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne, Australia, 12 April 1991. I bow to all the seekers of truth. As I told you yesterday, that truth is what it is. We cannot understand it, you have to feel it. We cannot conceptualize it, and you cannot feel it also at this human awareness. We have to become a subtler being, as described in all the Scriptures, that you are to be born again and that you have to become the Spirit, to feel the existence of Truth. First thing, we have to understand, that all this is a process of a living energy. Divine is a living energy, and divinity within you also is a living energy. We do not understand sometimes what is a living energy. When we sow a seed in the ground, they sprout by themselves. When a mother conceives the child, according to the normal nature of human beings, their body has to expel everything that is foreign. But when the child is conceived, it is not only kept in the body but is nourished, looked after, developed, and at the right time it is expelled. There are so many other things which cannot be explained through medical science. But one must know that to understand what I am saying, you must have an open mind, like a scientist has. And if you find what I am saying, which is like a hypothesis, is true and gives you the experience of the truth, then as Read More …

Short Puja and Discussion with Baba Mama Ashram in Cairns, Cairns (Australia)

1991-0405 Short Puja and Talk, Cairns, Queensland, Australia (Notes: whatever you find in Italic and bold, refers to speech in Marathi language) Sahaja yogi: Gravity is also one type of energy, isn’t it, Shri Mataji? Shri Mataji: Of course, in the Feet. Babamama: In the Feet. Because it is one of the things which balances us, called migraine (n.t. probably Baba Mama meant magnetism). Migraine (n.t. magnetism), migraine is one thing which balances us. Is there any relation between head and the feet? Shri Mataji: The whole feet are in the head. (n.t. connected to the head). Babamama: The feet are in the head? Shri Mataji: Or head is in the feet.  Babamama: I also thought the same. Head in the feet or feet in the head, because… Shri Mataji: When you rub My soles, vibrations come of your head. Babamama: Yes. Shri Mataji: [unclear] Babamama: Yes, because when we rub Your Feet, we get a very good sleep. Shri Mataji: Now, if we start from here… Babamama: Yes, Shri Mataji. Shri Mataji: If you start… Now see, if you fold the sari like this, you see, the break is a fourth, you see. So when it opens out, you see, these chakras open up like this, see. So, this one at the back are the chakras and these are the incarnations. So in the center comes the heart. Babamama: Yes, Shri Mataji. Shri Mataji: Here is Mooladhara and here’s Agnya. Then is Swadishthana. Now, this Swadishthana is moving like Read More …

Shri Mahavira Puja: Dead Spirits Perth (Australia)

Mahavira Puja. Perth (Australia), 28 March 1991. Today we are going to celebrate the birthday of Mahavira.Mahavira is the incarnation of Bhairavanath, or you call Him as Saint Michael. Now these two saints as you know one as the Gabriel, Hanumana, and another is Saint Michael, one is placed on the Pingala Nadi and another one, Saint Michael, on the Ida Nadi. So, Mahavira had to go through lots of search. Of course He was a angel, but came as human being and He had to find out the thing of the left side, and how the left side acts. It’s a very complicated thing, left side, is much more complicated than right side. On the left side we have also seven nadis, and these seven nadis are placed one after another. They are described in books and given different names to them. Now, these seven nadis that are on the left side, as you know, they cater to our past. Say for example, every moment becomes a past. Every present becomes a past. Then we have past of this lifetime, and also we have past of our previous lives. Then all the past is built in within us since our creation. So all the psychosomatic diseases, as you know, are only triggered by the entities that appear from the left side. For a person, supposing he is suffering, say, from liver trouble and suddenly he’s attacked from the left side, specially Mooladhara, or any left side, Left Nabhi, because Mooladhara is Read More …

Mahashivaratri Puja: Four Nadis of the Heart Chianciano Terme (Italy)

Mahashivaratri Puja. Chianciano Terme (Italy), 16 February 1991. Today we have assembled here to worship Sadashiva, which is reflected within us as Shiva, as the spirit. He is reflected in our heart, and as you have seen that the goal of our life was to achieve this state of spirit. The other day I was reading some books how it was done, this Self-realization, to know the spirit, and how people were tortured. First of all they’re asked to somehow or other deny, defy and condemn their body. Now, if the body wants to have comfort, then it was said that first try to sleep on the carpet, not on the bed. Then still, it’s not enough; then from the carpet you go to a mat – still it’s not enough. Then from that maybe, you move down to the Mother Earth, sleep on the Mother Earth. Still if the body is not alright  then you start sleeping on the stone. But still the Himalayas are far away, because Shiva resides in Kailasha. So you go to Himalayas and sleep on the ice. This was the minimum requirement. Then it was said that you are fond of good food, you want to have sumptuous food, you eat a lot, alright ; so you deny everything that you like, to begin with, all that you like. For example, Italians cannot eat pasta! Then deny that. But that’s not sufficient. After that, you start eating things which are very bitter. As in Read More …

Shri Chakra and Shri Lalita Puja Brahmapuri (India)

Shri Lalita and Shri Chakra Puja, Brahmapuri near Satara (India), during India Tour 1990/91, 17 December 1990. The knowledge about Kundalini has been expressed in many Sanskrit Shastras since long and also in Ayurveda it is described, not only that but the books which are for curriculum talk about Kundalini and the chakras, because Ayurveda is very, very close to Sahaja Yoga. Even in the western medicine to begin with, you should see the history they took to -dealt with three doshas. They dealt with three problems that we have as in Ayurveda. The right side which has got Pitta means bile; left side which has got Kapha means phlegm, and the central part, the problems of vayu means the gases. Now luckily so many western people have taken to Sahaja Yoga and have tried to bring down all the permutations and combinations to the simple reasoning of left, right and centre. But the knowledge of Sahaja Yoga is absolutely basics; even in Ayurveda is one step away from reality, of which it says the fundamentals. So you are dealing with the fundamentals of which a human being is built. And if this knowledge was found out long time back in India should we not accept it?The reason why people went into meditation in those days and found out all these deeper things within ourselves, because they didn’t have to fight the nature. You have seen here nature how beautiful it is. You can spend all your life under a tree, Read More …

Sitar Concert Tilak Smarak Mandir, Pune (India)

Sitar Concert Talk Shri Mataji: Please be seated. The combination of two Yogis played so beautifully together, whith such friendship and understanding, and love. And all of you enjoyed them so much. I felt the collective consciousness had reached its peak today. Now for music, whatever has to be said, he is so great that in words, it is difficult to put all that. Music is something that you can not express, unless and until you experience it. It is a question of experience. It is not the mental acrobatie that you have to play with. But it is something to be experienced in your being, in the totality of your personality. And that, when it happens, it just becomes vibrated in the whole atmosphere also. That is what we have experienced after Self-realisation, all of us. And it gives you also the Self-realisation. It was really remarkable! So now, we can see what Sahaja Yoga can do to all, how it can give a new dimension of a rapport, which has never seen before. Such a rapport is established, even if you do not know the A, B, C of music, even if you have never been in any Indian school of music, even if you have never heard such an Indian music. Still, once you have felt your Spirit, you can enjoy this music, because, as you know that Indian music and Western clasical music is all nothing but spirituality. So, we were all enjoying the ocean of joy. Read More …

Seek the Eternal Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

1990-11-01 Seek the Eternal, Public Program Day 1, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia I bow to all the seekers of truth. At the very outset, we have to know one thing that truth is what it is. We cannot conceptualize it with our human awareness nor can we organize it. It is what it was and it is what it is, it will be what it is. So to know it you have to rise higher than this human level into the level of spirit. Unless and until you do that whatever you think whatever you conceptualize creates problems.  That’s why all the scriptures have said one thing that seek the eternal and treat the transitory with all its understanding and limitations but this is only possible if you have become the spirit. All the saints have said that you have to know yourself, unless and until you know yourself, the illusion and ignorance won’t go. If you see in the Chinese right from Confucius, Lao-Tze all of them have talked about it.  For Christians, Christ has said the same thing, for Sikhs guru Nanak has said the same thing that you must seek the truth. And when these people have told you all these things about Sahaj yoga, it is very important to understand that you should not blindly believe anyone of us. Blind faith will lead you nowhere because you are seeking the truth. So unless and until you have found out the truth you are not to believe into Read More …

Welcome Talk before Shri Ganesha Puja: Fundamentalism Lanersbach (Austria)

Talk before Shri Ganesha Puja 1990-0826 So we have all gathered here today in this country of Austria, which in Sanskrit we call it Astra.  Astra means: The divine weapons. And the greatest credit,  I would give to Austria is this: That you don´t find  any fundamentalism of any kind, whether it is Islam, or whether it is Christian, or Hindu  any kind of fundamentalism operating in this country. Which is a very, very, very rare thing.  Right from Russia to England you find everywhere there is a subtle fundamentalism existing. And this country has this speciality that there is no fundamentalism. And also racialism you don´t feel here at all.  In every country I have felt that there is racialism.  Of course, in Russia, there isn´t. But otherwise.  So this country seems to be  a very open minded country and perhaps because they have  such beautiful nature with them. In this beautiful nature they want to enjoy the natüre and for that you have to have an open heart. Or maybe the vice versa, the natüre must have opened their heart. So, this land has a speciality: And I am very happy you all have from all the way  from so many countries, even from America, Australia,  India, such far-off countries you have assembled here  for this celebration and yesterday we actually saw ourselves, with our own eyes, the grace falling on this country. Cause this country deserves it. Any country which has fundamentalism behind it,  will have to Read More …

Public Program Budapest (Hungary)

Public Program, Budapest, Hungary, 23-07-1990 I bow to all the seekers of truth. As I have told you yesterday, truth is what it is. Truth is what it is. We cannot organise it. And we cannot conceptualise it. And also at a human awareness we cannot feel it. In the evolutionary process, we have come from Amoeba to the state. But still what we find is the chaos. So many opinions, ideologies and so many identified with that. So the absolute truth has to be won. In this evolutionary process whatever we have been. Is expressed on our central nervous system. For example, if you take a dog or a horse into a dirty place, they do not feel the dirt. But a human being can feel that it is dirty, that it is filthy and smelly. That shows that human beings are a aware. That their awareness has a vital dimension. It is not a mental projection. It is not any imagination. It is the reality that you can feel on your central nervous system. For that, something has to happen for this last breakthrough of our evolution. So we manifest the new dimension of our awareness which I told you yesterday was corrective consciousness. That means on our central nervous system that is on the tips of our fingers we should feel this all-pervading power. And that we should feel our own subtle centres as well as the subtle centres of others. This happening takes place spontaneously. Because Read More …

Guru Puja: Detachment, Silence, Faith Avignon (France)

Guru puja. Avignon (France), 8 July 1990. In Sahaja Yoga the Guru puja has a very different significance from any other guru puja. When you worship your Guru you are also worshiping the Guru within you. This is not in any other guru-disciple system because, in you, the Guru, the Master has been awakened. And so, when you are worshipping your Guru, then this Master within you is also worshipped, you respect it, you glorify it, you awaken it, and you manifest it. This we have to realise that – in Sahaja Yoga – if you are a Sahaja Yogi. Now, the quality of Guru, first and foremost, is that he makes you meet God: means he raises the Kundalini and establish the relation between the All-pervading Power. And as your Guru is Adi Shakti, you make that person meet, also, the Adi Shakti. So you have a double advantage that, at the same time, when you give them Realisation, not only that you make them feel the union with the Divine Power, but you can make them meet the Divinity Itself, the source of Divine Power. So your responsibility, as Sahaja Yogis, is very great because in you is there is the Guru. Now in our mantras we say that, “Mother, I am my own Guru.” But, saying that, do we realise that: if I am my own Guru, this “I” and “my Guru,” between the two, what have I achieved? Where am I? Can I guide myself? Have Read More …

Interview Moscow (Russia)

Interviewer: This [there] anyway the people can find themselves, they will not be turned by storm of light from one side to another side of the river called life? And can we give to person the truth? Shri Mataji: Of course, why not. They are the best Russians, are the best people for this. And she thinks but the problems are not so much as they are otherwise but they are very aware. Interviewer: I would like to ask you, we live in a very difficult time in Soviet Union and what do you think our society is very thick or it has any chance to become cured? Shri Mataji: It is the best society I have ever seen. Because perhaps of the difficulties they think they are more anxious to get to truth. And if they, when they are blessed by spiritual power they will be the strongest nation in the whole world. You are, you cannot be strong by what war weapons you have but you are strong by what powerful human beings you are. Talk to Sahaja Yogis (Greece)

Talk to Sahaja Yogis, Greece, 23-06-1990 Shri Mataji: May God bless you. Tomorrow again my tour starts. A very nice rest here. So I am here again, going on my tour. [UNCLEAR] was such a nice relief to come here and rest and enjoy your company. May God bless you all. But you all have to now move out to other countries and try to see that you establish Sahaja Yoga properly. Be kind to them, be nice to them and also there are a positions from other people, no doubt. You have to be very patient with them and try to tell them that you haven’t found anything so far, why don’t you find out what is the truth. Why don’t you find it out? If you are kind to them they might accept your invitation so I hope all of you will take it, responsibly as such to go down and help people. And especially women I think because they are much more free than men are. Men are working. Those who are free can go down and really spread Sahaja Yoga. In any case I’m going back from Ganesha Puja which I hope this time you will have all your acquired reading, all your music readiness, everything in a big way. And you are very good puja at Ganesha Puja this time. I feel one thing about Sahaja Yogis that there are some Sahaja Yogis who are very active and I find some Sahaja Yogis only come Read More …

A new awareness: collective consciousness Auckland (New Zealand)

Public Program Day 1, Auckland 13th March, 1990 I bow to all the seekers of truth. While seeking the truth we have to realise that truth is what it is. We cannot change it, we cannot manipulate it, we cannot conceptualise it but we have to accept [it] as it is.  The truth is to be understood as it is. So whatever he [Brian Bell, who introduced the subtle system before Shri Mataji’s talk] has told you today need not be accepted, you can treat it as a hypothesis but must have a scientific attitude to see for yourself whatever is said is there or not, and if so and if it works out then, as  honest people you have to accept it.  As we see civilisations grow, it is the outward growth, outward growth of a tree but we have not known our roots so far. We have to know our roots, otherwise we are standing all the time at a very precarious point waiting for a shock when the whole world could be destroyed. Now, the making within us is this that we have not yet found out the absolute truth. If we had found out, there would not have been so many opinions, there would not have been so many problems and so many theories and quarrels which lead us nowhere. We talk of communism, it leads us to some sort of a ani (?) of power. We talk of democracy, it leads to some sort of Read More …

Conversation with Sahaja Yogis on buying the Ashram Brisbane (Australia)

Conversation Sahaja yogi:        [Inaudible: Place of work?] Shri Mataji:         You can go for your work. Staying in the city is not so good for Sahaja Yogis. You see, vibration-wise and also not good for your lungs, you see. It’s better to be little away if you want to meditate. First and foremost thing is you have to ascend. For that you should be in a place which will help you to ascend. Otherwise, if you live in the city, the city hubbub [unclear. in the city] all nonsense. Can’t even meditate properly and it’s so polluted. It spoils your lungs completely. So it would be nice to be a little away from the city. Try to find some house of that kind. And first you have to get a mortgage for that which you can do if all of you put together. And then you have to pay the rent of the house as the mortgage part of the mortgage. So you own it all. Sahaja yogi:        I think it would take some time to own a place of that kind. Shri Mataji:         I didn’t follow that. Sahaja yogi:        He said they have desired for some time to own something rather than pay rent. Shri Mataji:   Yes if you can. Whatever is possible. If you can own something, nothing like it. But can you?  You see, this is the way I said that you first pay the first instalment. I would like to know what is it. How much you Read More …

Makar Sankranti Puja Kalwa (India)

Makar Sankranti – Shri Surya Puja, Kalwa (India), January 14th, 1990 Hindi translation  Today’s auspicious occasion is being celebrated everywhere in India. The reason is that the Sun which has left us, has left India, and had moved towards the Tropic of Capricorn, has now returned. And along with the movement of the Earth and the Sun all the vegetation, all the crops, fruit and other things are growing. The time has come for their growth. And all those trees whose leaves were completely removed in the cold weather, appeared as if they have completely died, all those trees are again awakened and started to become green. And that’s why, the significance of this time is that the Earth will again become green, and activities will start again everywhere. Especially in Northern India, where it gets very cold, it is a very special festival, that the sun has arrived and all the work dependent on the Sun will be completely fulfilled now. So today I transmit best wishes to everyone here. And on today’s auspicious occasion, I could meet you all here. This is also a great joy for Me, I feel. As we consider Sun’s appearance as a very great thing, it is much more important, that the Sun of Sahaja Yoga comes on this Earth. Because whatever creativity is in this Universe, the creativity is nourished by the Sun. The Sun gives it the energy, and the creative power of the “Paramchaitanya”, its aspect of action, has got Read More …

Evening Program Ganapatipule (India)

18th January 1990, Ganapatipule, India. I am happy you have all been enjoying the music so much and enjoying your stay in Ganapatipule. This is the end of our tour where is a get together like a gathering as you call it and there has to be much less talking and much less worrying about things of less importance. We have to enjoy and we have to enjoy each other, to know each other and to understand what is this collectivity is. We are here of so many countries and is best is that we should talk to each other and find out their country, their styles and their names and their families and make very intimate relationships with them. So this is the idea of this Ganapatipule is that at the combination of it, we all meet together and that we have a very congenial enjoyable atmosphere. So I don’t want to stand in the way of the music that was on. I would like Babamama to continue and also then we’ll have other music. We have to only see what we have gained, how much sensitive you have become to joy. How much conditionings we have dropped. How much we feel surrendered to the Divine and how our personalities have grown. Devi Puja: Who is the God and Who Is the Goddess Ganapatipule (India)

Puja at Ganapatipule. Ganapatipule (India), 7 January 1990. [Shri Mataji arrives and speaks aside: Shri Mataji: (Marathi: “It’s cool, not hot at all”.) “You’ve got the sari with you?” Yogi: “Yes, Shri Mataji”. Shri Mataji: “One sari”. (The yogi says something) Eh? Yogi: “… whichever one You would like”. Shri Mataji: “One. And another one belongs to Magdu”. (Marathi: “Ask Magdu about the other sari. Check if he has a sari or not, otherwise we’ll take their one.”) “You might be having their sari maybe.” Yogi: “Yes, we’ve got one extra”. Shri Mataji: “Alright…”.] (One yogini performs Aarti to Shri Mataji.) Rachael: Sahaja Yoga made an immense difference to my life because when I came along I’d been ill for two years with an illness that the doctors at the time couldn’t understand or didn’t have any knowledge about. I developed the illness due to my lifestyle which was very extreme. I was pushing myself to the limits all the time, completely exhausted, not eating and taking drugs. I was very, very thin, very pushed completely to the point of no return almost. And I developed an illness that came in the form of allergies to almost every food. I could eat only three or four foods and I was very, very tired, no energy, very weak. Splitting headaches all of the time. I would just have headaches and not be able to sleep at night. I find it very, very difficult to sleep. In fact, my whole life came to a halt. I had no social life or anything. Nick: So what did you Read More …
