What is the difference between Sahaja Yoga and other yogas? Milan (Italy)

Public Program, Milan, 6 August 1989 I bow to all the seekers of truth. You are here to feel the truth. And not to just conceptualise it mentally. Now, there’s a question yesterday, people asked that what is the difference between Sahaja Yoga and other yogas. All these yogas have been written down by a saint called Patanjali, long time back. And he called it Ashtanga Yoga, Ashtanga, with eight facets. He existed thousands of years back, and that time we had a system in which the students went into the university to study under some enlightened soul, a guru, satguru. So, there are eight facets of the Yoga, mean union with the divine. So, he has got, the first one as yama. Yama Niyama. Yama is the first one in which he has written what we have to do to make our breathing all right or to control our misbehaviour. So, one-third of that is the asanas where you do physical exercises for a particular type of problem. But that is not Hatha Yoga. Hatha Yoga is a complete Patanjali Yoga Shastra, Yoga – that is complete Patanjali Yoga scripture. Asanas or these practices of physical exercises is a very wee bit, is one one-twenty fourth of one of them. ‘Ha’ and ‘Tha’, Ha means the sun and Tha means the moon. So both are considered in Hatha Yoga. Because we are not only physical beings. We are [a] physical being, we are mental being, we are emotional being, Read More …

Experience the Spirit on your central nervous system Rome (Italy)

Public Program Day 1 Teatro Aurora, Rome (Italy), 19 September 1984 I bow to all the seekers of truth. In life, we must be thinking about the reality that we have not known so far. We must have asked questions to ourselves, why we are on his earth? What is the purpose? And what is the truth is a very important thing we should try to find out. So far in the human awareness, whatever we know, is on our central nervous system. But we have not had the experience of the Spirit on our nervous system. We have heard in many scriptures, Indian, Chinese, Bible, that there is a Spirit that guides us. It is also said that you have to be the Spirit. And when Christ said that, “You have to be born again to be the Spirit”, Nicodemus asked him, ‘Do you mean to say, I should enter into the womb of my Mother?’ So Christ said, ‘No, whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, but whatever is born of the Holy Ghost, of the Holy Spirit is the Spirit.’ That means clearly that so far in human awareness we have not reached our purpose. But this is not only said by Christ. Thousands of years back, in India, so many people have been telling that you must get your ‘Self Realisation’. Actually the people were so much against Christ, that they did not allow Him to live long to explain much. And those who started Read More …

Third Letter in Marathi (Location Unknown)

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, Translation of Old Marathi Letter – (in Nirmala Yoga magazine no.15, 1983) Man wants peace, wealth, power, etc., but God is the origin of all these.  Then why should there not be the desire for God?  Why should there be no aspiration and ambition to meet God? We should pray to God for peace, and keep the desire to meet God who is peace itself. This should be the difference in satisfaction of a common man and that of a Sahaja Yogi. One should be ready to surrender the very desire to meet God at God’s holy feet.  All attention must be on Him.  For that – one must have dedication, determination and concentration (tapasvita), in that all material attachments should be destroyed. What is there in this world to cling to?  You must realize the glory of those feet in which all fades, and becomes peaceful.  Only then, will you have your glory! Why should one brag of one’s achievements?  You must understand that whatever is being done by you, is all God’s power, that is, the working of the Adi Shakti and you are only the witnesses to see these miracles. For achieving that stage, you should pray: “May our ‘I consciousness’ fade away.  May the truth that all of us are a small part of your being be assimilated within us, so that your Divine bliss would resonate every particle of our bodies and this life would be filled with beautiful melodies enchanting the Read More …

Diwali Letter London (England)

H.H. SHRI MATAJI NIRMALA DEVI, Diwali Letter, London (UK), October 27th, 1981 Dear Sahaja Yogis, My Dear Children, May this Diwali light the lamp of love within all of you. You yourselves are like those lamps whose glow spreads far and wide, and this glow cannot be diminished by trying to cover it up. In fact, trying to conceal them makes these lamps even more powerful. This is the inherent wealth of these lamps. But sometimes negativity causes these lamps to shake and waver. What is the reason for these lamps to shake and waver? All of you please think about this. Don’t you possess a kavach (protection) to keep you from shaking and wavering? Have you forgotten your Mother’s love, and is that why you shake and waver? My love will always protect you in the same manner in which a glass covering provides protection to a lamp. But the glass has to be kept clean. In what words can I explain this to you? Will I have to say like Shri Krishna said -“Give up all other duties and surrender only to me,” or like Jesus Christ said, “I am the path and I am the entrance.” What I want to tell you is that “I am your final aim”. But will you all accept this? Will this message of mine enter your hearts? Sometimes whatever I say is distorted and twisted. But the truth is the truth. You cannot change the truth. If you try to change Read More …
