Guru Puja: Your own dignity and gravity Finchley Ashram, London (England)

Guru Puja, “Your own dignity and gravity” Finchley Ashram, London (UK), 21 July 1978 …the worshipping of your guru, not of your Mother, but of your guru. The guru establishes the dharma, the sustenance, in the disciples. He gives all clear-cut ideas about what is the sustenance power for the disciples. He may preach for the whole world but for his disciples, he gives very clear-cut instructions. Most of the gurus, when they do it, they actually chisel out every disciple. First they weigh what is the urge of a disciple, how much a disciple really can receive, and then they accept somebody as a disciple after verifying if the disciple is really capable of receiving even the instructions about dharma. But not in Sahaja Yoga because your guru is a Mother. So she initiates you without finding out what is your urge, what is your capability and what quality of a personality you have. It’s a very different style of guru that you have which looks after your body, looks after your mind and looks after your problems and then bestows upon you the blessings of Kundalini awakening. But normally the gurus do not do [this]. The reason is: they are only gurus, not mothers. When you do the Guru puja, what do you do really? You must understand that. That means you worship the principle of guru in you, by worshipping me. The principle is within you: which is to be awakened, which is to be blossomed, by Read More …

Easter Seminar and unknown Public Program Finchley Ashram, London (England)

Easter seminar, Finchley Ashram, London (England), Sunday, March 26th, 1978 Today is Easter and all of you celebrate it. It’s rather surprising, you see, there are people believing in science and everything, these days they offer you an egg. But they should believe in Christ or they should believe in his Resurrection. It’s absolutely unscientific but we accept it without asking “why?” and “how?”.You never question Easter. But certain things, when they appear new to us, we start questioning and want to bring it to the science, to the reality of it. But certain things we just accept: his Resurrection. Now, we have for Easter the thing that we give, an egg on an Easter day. Now, why do we do it? If you are that rational, you must think about it: why do we give an egg?We never think about it we just do it because it’s a custom of the great grand-mother and the grandmother did it and the mother will do and the child does it. So, we just do it just as an accepted thing. You are not bothered to find out “why?”. Why are we to give an egg and not something else? What does it show when there is no mention of an egg in the Bible, as far as I know? But there is a mention in this Devi Bhagavatam about an egg and Christ. And everybody is doing it without understanding what does that mean. How did we get that symbol, from Read More …

Spirit, Attention, Mind Finchley Ashram, London (England)

“Spirit, Attention, Mind”, Finchley Ashram, London (UK), 20th February 1978. …and He’s using us as an instrument. Come along! As I have said.  Now Christine had asked me, “What is our surrendering?” And he has asked me if we have a free will or not. All right? You have a free will of your own. Especially human beings have it, not the animals. You have the free will to choose, we can say, good and bad, righteous and unrighteousness. Now, you can choose to surrender, or not to surrender, to His will: to be dominated by your own will. Now, she asked me, “What is the surrender?” Surrendering, as I have been saying, that is to be done in three stages. Especially here in this country where people think, rationalise, analyse; because it’s not easy. If you can do it otherwise, you can do it automatically. Supposing God, Himself, is sort of based according to your certain conceptions. I don’t know what sort of conceptions you have about God, but supposing you have certain conceptions, individual ones. Everyone has individual conceptions for God. And maybe that you see that He’s so Almighty and He’s so great and you just bow to Him without thinking. But that cannot be. So the first one is to surrender by understanding rationally. Nobody is unconscious, nobody is in the subconscious. You are all very conscious as to what you are doing and what’s happening to you. So when you see that the Divine Force Read More …

Workshop Finchley Ashram, London (England)

HH Shri Mataji, Workshop Part-1, Finchley Ashram, London, UK, 1977-1118. All the prostate gland and all these things are involved because of overactivity. The whole nervous system is ruined by this kind of an overactivity. I mean, are you nothing but a sex point?  We must respect our personality. You are not only a sex point. I mean, even animals are not that. How could we be only our sex point? But that doesn’t mean that you should become like those people that you can’t look at women. Why can’t you? You can look at women, if you are that clear in your eyes, you should. Everyone will look, you see, we never feel that way about it. Not at all. But your eyes are not clear, you see, they are dissatisfied eyes. They are adulterous. That’s why they are not satisfied with one person, from one to another they are moving. What mistakes your parents have done, you are not going to do those mistakes or do you? Or your grandparents have done. It spoils everything. The whole society is based, the whole society, is based on one small point, is how far you understand sex and its sanctity. See, we all are sitting down as brothers and sisters. Everybody knowing who is whose husband, whose wife it is. Supposing tomorrow an idea comes into somebody’s head that alright, I’ll have a nice time with somebody’s wife or somebody’s husband. The whole society ruins and if it were not Read More …

Workshop and discourses Finchley Ashram, London (England)

“Workshop and discussions with Shri Mataji,” Finchley Ashram 1  11 November 1977 Tape 1 ( 1977-11-03 Workshop Part 2 Finchley Ashram, 93′, min 43:29 Shri Mataji: See, in the beginning   Sahaja is such a sweet thing that in the beginning it makes you  such that  you get the vibrations alright. And in the beginning it doesn’t give you the feeling of heaviness so much as it would to these people (yogis). It doesn’t make you feel nervous. Because supposing the first day, only, you get a heavy head, you would say, “What sort of a Sahaja Yoga is this one?” See? So it makes you, first of all, [feel] very nice and happy. But then, you see, it makes you also strong! And it makes you a witness. Then, when you start you don’t mind: you just got this in your head, it’s alright “haaa hooo,” but you take it out, you fight it out. It’s like you see it’s training, in a battlefield, and you have to fight the satanic forces, alright? So suddenly you are not exposed to the battlefield, but what they do is to first of all prepare you. First you are hit by a mock sword, so you don’t feel it. Then you strengthen your sword. Better now? Better? They used to be so much frightened, you know!  Everybody coming used to be frightened! They used to be very frightened, now they have become very relaxed! Let’s come to you, that [is] what he did. He said:  ‘but I have been  Intelligent…(not clear) people were very upset by ..(not clear)  because I  met to ,   another one, this Krishnamurti. Krishnamurti… he said: you are all condition if you say so don’t you do that it is the condition you should give up, and you must become independent, see for yourself how … do (not clear). Nothing, you will do it on your own, don’t do  this . Now, Krishnamurti’s  disciples are much more conditioned than anybody else. I haven’t been able to give to even one  Realisation one person, of this disciple of Krishnamurti , can you believe it? 26th October 1977 Workshop with new people after first Caxton Hall meeting, Finchley Ashram Shri Mataji: Have they become beast or worst than the beast, even beast don’t do like that. I could not imagine this is worst than prostitution I mean a horrid, it is hell, what else is the hell. No family is safe, nobody is safe, no place is safe, on top of that why do you need Rajnish to teach you all this. He is nowhere compared to many other people who are here. He doesn’t know all the tricks of the trick as you people know, some of you. In Paris, you will be surprised, I have never told you this I don’t think if I have told you or not. Seeker: Paris is a dirty place. Shri Mataji: It is hell personified.
