Public Program at United Nations Meeting, New York (USA). 4 October 1993. I bow to all the seekers of truth. At the very outset, we have to know that truth is what it is. We cannot change it. We cannot transform it. We cannot conceptualize it. Truth is to be felt as you can feel hot and cold. Whatever we have had so far through our evolutionary process, at this human awareness, we have known it on our central nervous system. So, we have to know the truth on our central nervous system. Otherwise, it is either emotional idea or a mental idea, which has limitations. We think of science as if we have achieved a lot. In one area we might say we have, in the sense, we have explored many things about matter. We have knowledge about the outside world quite a lot, but we don’t know ourselves at all. We haven’t got the knowledge of inner being. So much of science has created such a big civilization around, but it does not know its own roots. This is the reason why today we find that there is no solution for many things which we are facing. We have big organizations; we have conferences, arguments, discussions – everything, at mental level. But the whole thing is not result oriented. When we talk of trutht we must understand at the very outset that Truth is what it is. We cannot mould it with our human awareness, we cannot organize it and we cannot change it at all. So, what is the truth? The truth is that we are not this body, this intellect, these emotions, this ego, the conditionings, but we are the Spirit. And the second truth is that there is a subtle All-pervading divine Power which is doing all the living work. For example, we see the flowers and we take them for granted. All living things we take for granted and we do not inquire as to how these things are worked out and how all these living processes are going on around. It’s neither your imagination nor your reading. It is what it is. We cannot change it. We cannot organize it. And we cannot conceptualize it. In our freedom, we have to choose the truth. But at human awareness, it’s not possible to know the truth. You have to rise higher than this human stage. As your U.N. is for the benevolence, for the benevolence, and if you have to achieve the benevolence of the world, we have to know one thing that we have to have the transformation of human beings. Unless and until we transform them as they are, you can unite them but you cannot integrate them. To integrate them you have to raise them to a new awareness of collective consciousness, where you become collectively conscious. Again I say you become. This is not that you can just certify yourself as something very aware people or as born again or twice-born or something like that. You cannot also certify yourself that we have known the truth. I wouldn’t like to talk for too long but the major difference to put it in a nutshell is that because we are in a time where so many people are seeking and because there is a demand for the keys to the frontier of new conscious many people have come supplying all kind of answers. Now as people have refined their language, you’ll see that more or less all use the same key words – joy, peace, love, awareness, spontaneity, creativity so on and so forth.
