Inauguration speech for the opening of the new Music Academy (transcr. only English part). Vaitarna (India), 1 January 2003. I’m sorry I spoke in Hindi language, because to talk about My father in any other language is very difficult, though he was a master of English language and he used to read a lot. He had a big library of his own where I also learned English, because my medium of instruction was Marathi. I’d never studied Hindi or English. But because of his library, because I was very fond of reading, I picked up English, whatever it is, and also Hindi. Now they all say I speak very good English and very good Hindi, I am surprised, because to Me they were foreign languages. And when I did my matriculation also, I had a very small book of English, and for inter-science also I had a very small book. And in the medical college of course there was no question of any language, but because I used to read a lot. So I would suggest to all of you to read, read more. But don’t read nonsensical books, very good famous books you must read. That’s how I developed my language, and I had to do so well. The most important thing in Sahaja Yoga is that you have to change & that’s what you should do to the Goddess with changed heart, full of love, affection and kindness. And I used to think: if these new people, who have come to the services, to the Government service, we have to tell them the dangers that are ahead of them. Because we don’t know what is the subtle system within us, which works. And in the subtle system, when we lead this kind of a very speedy, intensive life, it has a defect. I mean, I don’t know how we are so lucky that we get all the talents, all the beautiful blessings, even in music which is very difficult to achieve in this far off place like a jungle. I hope you all have enjoyed it very much. I have now heard our Guruji’s Guru and I have heard also his Guru, I am as old as that. And the beauty of his music is that he doesn’t get, I should say, excited very much, very relaxed. His Guruji was used to rise about half way while singing. Of course he was very great singer, no doubt, but he used to do that way and then you come down and then again he used to rise. He is a very, very nice person, extremely nice and just lost in the music. Some people think that, if they get power, they’ll be very happy, some think that, if they get too much money, they’ll be very pleased and some people also think that, if they become very powerful, they can overpower others but in this seeking you are seeking something else. But if this seeking of yours is right or good, still, even after attaining all this, you are not happy, you have no satisfaction even when you have got all this. Then, what is the inherent seeking you have? It should not be difficult for us to understand this because we are Indians living in India. We have been hearing day and night since our childhood that beyond this world, beyond this illusion, is the joy of the Spirit. We have to receive that joy of the Spirit. Dance and Talk Shri Mataji: Such talents, such mastery of Mrs Kanan on what we call the “bhawas” means the emotions, the way she expressed her emotions …She is really a master if she was in India people would have really knew that such a great artist is being sent to NewZealand.It should not have been done 🙂And a little girl I must say for a rage, she is so dynamic, so rhythmic and so perfect. All these dances I know very well because I have been seen dancing from the very childhood of mine I should say…The perfection they have achieved is really remarkable …I don’t know how far you have understood the different moods have shown if in one after the other …How she has gone from one mood to another mood. It’s very difficult If you see the expressions on the face hands everything…It’s a very difficult dance and also the dance that you saw of “Jattiswaram” Also is a very vigorous dance. Although in our India there has been a lot of work on Yoga but because of the onset of English rule all of us forgot our Great scriptures which worked a lot in the field of yoga. In Upanishads if you see particularly Shandilya Upanishad etc., it has been written long back that within you there is a power named kundalini and this power on getting awakened you can get your self realisation. This I will say certainly that very clearly whole outline has not been given in these Upnishads. But it is a matter of controversy that our many scriptures, Yogvashishth etc., in many scriptures as well it has very clearly been mentioned. So the Sun is worshipped on the fourteen, but Indians think that this is a blessing to have the Sun here for all the things [unsure]. But when the Sun moves from the Capricorn, which is called as ‘Makar’, they say that it is the greatest ordinary now on the Capricorn, and that we are better off. So, we have to celebrate. Aurangabad has a special significance in My own life because My forefathers came from a place very near from here called as Paithan but originally known as Prathisthan. I think about two years back we were there. And this is the place where Valmiki, who wrote the great epic of Ramayana, lived here and when Sita was taken away from Her house and when She was pregnant, there was another ashram of his in Nepal where She stayed and then She was brought here. That’s why you see a kind of a culture of Maharashtra going to the hills and also to Nepal through Her and Her children who went down – one to Russia and another to China. The name of one who went to Russia was Lav and the one who went to China was Kush. So they are called as slavs and was mostly called as lave. And those who went to China are called as Kusha. It has been little bit delayed but just now they have informed Me that the plane is delayed even much more, so I thought it’s better to have the puja now, though the English had told us that they would like to attend from the very beginning. They always get many more pujas, that may be the reason. [Shri Mataji laughs, laughter] So now we have all arrived here and we are going to start this pilgrimage of travelling together. The journey is of a very subtle nature and, if we realize why we are here, we’ll understand that all this Creation is watching you all and it’s trying to help you that you should ascend and that you feel your depth and thus enjoy your Self.
