Evening Program, Nishat Khan Concert, Eve of Navaratri Puja Campus, Cabella Ligure (Italy)

Evening Program before Navaratri Puja DAY – 1 06.10.2000 Cabella TAPE – 1 2:47:06 …Art, not only that but all the intricate patterns of it. I was overjoyed to see Sahaja yoginis and Sahaja yogis dancing so well and I hope that will change the styles of their walk. (Shri Mataji and people in audience laugh) When I came first to London long time back with my daughters, they used to wonder look at women here and they said mummy they all walk like horse. I said really, see their hair also going like, going up and down and the way they walk. Big influence of horses I think on England. But that was just by the way I told him. But you must have noticed Pawar is a very humourous person because he comes from India, not only that from Maharashtra and he belongs to the same caste as mine. So they are known for their humour. And in his humour he has tried to entertain you very well. I must say this, he’s such an expert on Kathak. To understand it, I think aa.. you require little knowledge about the percussions. If you have that knowledge then you will understand how it is difficult, how it is intricate and how it is creative to produce this. It’s a very, very long study, long work, they have to do and practices after practices. That’s how the Indian art is. But I was surprised that when Sahaja yogis go in Read More …

Evening Program Guru Puja Campus, Cabella Ligure (Italy)

Evening Program Guru Puja, Italy, Cabella, 30-07-1999 This was really a very memorable night for all of you. I don’t know what to say about Nishat Khan. I think he should be given now the title of Ustad, no doubt. The way he has played, I have never heard anybody playing so well, never before. And specially Tappa. Because it’s a very different, I have never heard anyone playing Tappa on sitar. Once only, Siddheswari Devi, as I told you. She sang before Me this Tappa Raag. She was quite an old lady at that time. But I was amazed, She sang it so well, absolutely the masterer. And I also called her ‘You are an Ustad’, I called her.  That’s what I feel now today the way you have really entertained all of them. Also, they appreciate and understand music, that’s the best part of it. See, all these people who are sitting here, I know them, if you would have played till five, six o’clock, they would have sat.  It’s a… it’s a present to them, for they are serving a great purpose. My father was a great connaisseur and supporter of musicians, and always used to say you must always respect artists, because they are specially chosen by God. If they don’t go to the wrong path, then they are to be very much respected and must do everything that is possible to express your respect. So, one day he told Me ‘My desire is that the whole Read More …

Evening Program, Eve of Shri Krishna Puja Campus, Cabella Ligure (Italy)

Evening Program, Eve of Shri Krishna Puja Shri Mataji: I love this special bhajan they are going to now play for you, it’s written by a great saint, Tulasi Dasa. The description here is of a little Shri Rama, while walking, how He used to walk in a particular beautiful manner. And He would fall down, and again He would get up, and all that description of a child. I don’t think – I haven’t seen any such poetry in the Western areas, describing a little child, how he walks, how he runs – you see, this is one of the very big things to understand. I don’t know about Italians, because they have lot of love for children; but the description is so beautiful of a little baby getting up, and He is an incarnation. And just like another child, how He walks and how He crawls. Now, thumakata itself is a very lyrical word I should say, which is going well with the tabla also as such, we use that, or you can say it’s rhythmic. So the whole concept in India is that a child is something very Divine, and if it’s an incarnation, the childhood of an incarnation has to be very great. I haven’t seen one poem – if you find anywhere – in the history of English, German, French and Italian where they have described a child’s movement – I’ll be very happy, because this is how you respect and enjoy a child. Concert of Nishat Khan, Eve of Navaratri Puja Campus, Cabella Ligure (Italy)

1994-10-08 Concert of Nishat Khan, Eve Of Navaratri Puja, Cabella, Italy Shri Mataji:  His name you all you know, Nishat Khan, but somehow or other he has such a fascination for playing here, there is something very, I feel miraculous and kind of a holy alliance that I cannot explain.   And he is not only a very good player and all that – artist – but very humble man, very humble.  And I must say I feel shy sometimes the way he is humble to Me.  You see this artist is a very great example also because many people are against each other in the artistic world very much.  And some people said that he is a Muslim so why should he play anything, they are not allowed in the Koran.  I said I don’t believe that.  Mohammad Sahib could never have said such a thing.   It is all nonsense, how could he have said such a nonsensical things, He was a very sensible personality.  So all kinds of arguments people give.  It shows the smallness of their mind, and also in a way they are insulting Mohammad Sahib.  I feel that this kind of a taboo and nonsense has to go away.  I have told many a times how difficult it is to follow the Christianity.  Because Christ has said that if you commit sin it’s your one eye, take it out.  Take out another eye if you make mistakes, then cut your hand if you do any Read More …

Musical program, camping “parc des Libertés”, on the island of Barthelasse, Avignon, France, 07-07-1990 Shri Mataji: Give her a chair. Give her a chair otherwise she won’t be able to play harmonium. Ah, [Hindi] Can you keep it up there? Ah. On that. [Hindi] You can move that. Come on. Have a sit there. Sahaja Yogi: We would like to present you with a “Bharood” [Marathi religious song] by Sant Eknath. It’s a song that, in a style that is designed to teach people what will happen to them if they don’t behave in a, in the correct way. In this particular song, Sant Eknath is talking about what happens to people if they’re not if they trick people badly. If they are, if they are rude to them if they cheat them. Sant Eknath gives example in particular of Duryodhana who took Draupadi and humiliated her in his court and it was eventually his brother, the brother of Duryodhana drag Draupadi into the court to be humiliated. And was eventually punished by Bhishma, punished by Bhishma in a dual. In the same way, Ravana who kidnapped Shri Sita was duly punished by Shri Rama. And so on in many cases. In reality, there are only four people that Sant Eknath mentions who are free from any kind of problem in his regard. For example, Bhishma and Hanumana those two are examples. Sant Eknath concludes the song inviting us to be sweet with each other and not to abuse each Read More …
