That’s a very interesting subject that has been given to Me to talk to you people because I have been always worried about the IAS, IPS, and other Government servants, very much worried because I have known the kind of life My husband was leading. And I used to think: if these new people, who have come to the services, to the Government service, we have to tell them the dangers that are ahead of them. Because we don’t know what is the subtle system within us, which works. And in the subtle system, when we lead this kind of a very speedy, intensive life, it has a defect. First, I’ll speak in English language, because we have so many people from foreign countries, and especially from Madras (Chennai) and also from Kerala, Hyderabad and Bangalore. All these people have come here, and I don’t know what other people are here, who have come from South and who do not yet understand Hindi language. This Shivaratri has a special meaning, I think. Because there is so much – if you read any newspaper in the morning, such horrible news is there about the people who are trying to create all kinds of violence, corruption and immoral behaviour. You are surprised how, these days, it is so full of all these criminalities going round us. This is the time, as if come, for the “Taandav nrutya” [ताण्डव नृत्य, cosmic dance] of Shri Shiva. Otherwise, one feels things cannot improve. It is His anger, if it starts, throwing wrath on people of this character and this type. I don’t know how anyone can save from His wrath. It is being celebrated through-out the world with so much of zeal that I have not seen in India. For the first time it has been advertised in so many papers and by different means.Guru Nanaka always talked of Sahaja Yoga. Everything else, He said, is just showing off. About religion He said that observing fasts, going on pilgrimage, etc., are just meant to show off. Now you have to discover the power that is within you and establish it. Guru Nanaka kept on repeating the same thing again and again. He never talked of rituals: But when Guru Teg- Bahadur came, tomorrow is his martyrs day, He was also of the same opinion. But when there was the last Guru, war was being fought. So, he prescribed Kada (iron bangle), long hair (not to cut hair) etc. All this was prescribed by him. Diwali puja. Delphi (Greece), 7 November 1999. It is very, very fortunate and auspicious that we are celebrating the Diwali in Greece, specially in Delphi. It has a very ancient history, and as you know Athena resided here. She was the Primordial Mother. “Atha” in Sanskrit means “primordial.” So this place has been described, has been described even in the Puranas as “Manipur [navel] dvipa [island].” Manipur is the Nabhi. Also in Sanskrit Manipur means the Nabhi Chakra. So it’s described as the Manipur dvipa, is written “Manipur e dvipa.” Just imagine these Puranas, these ancient-time books – God knows how old they are, must be at least eight thousand or maybe more – and they have described Greece as the Manipur dvipa [the island of the navel], is the place of Nabhi and where resides the Adi Shakti, that’s the Athena. So I mean, how it was known to them – maybe through torsion area, I would say; but it is written very clearly, and same we find here is the place of Athena which is in the Nabhi. You don’t know how happy I feel to see you all develop your enlightenment into such a joyful establishment of a, absolutely, a new generation of people. So many types of forms She has taken, to kill the negative forces that are trying to trouble or to obstruct, or even to grow the people who were gentle and good. Her forms are of different types – that we know about, that She destroyed so many rakshasas, She destroyed so many evildoers. Also we do not know that, in the World Wars that we had, She was there to protect the right type of people. And that’s how they all survived the ill-blood plan, ill-gotten plan of very cruel and evil people. The evil people have a capacity to hate and to express their hate in every way that is possible. Because Dr David told me in a great hurry. This is what we are going to have and it will take 3 and half hours but it turns out to be such a unique experience that We have so many artists of very high calibre. And that they are to be realised properly. I don’t know what to say about our people from Ukraine. The first time I came to Ukraine, I remember they were all suffering from [unclear] problem.And they were all thinking that they are going to die or I don’t know what was the feeling they had But I don’t know-how by the grace of divine, Param Chaitanya, most of them got cured and they were all right but I could not understand that these people will one day become such great talented artist and to see them today, in this way, I am really amazed how they have developed themselves so well. His power comes from His innocence. When we see small children, we’re automatically compelled towards them and also we want to love them, kiss them, and [have them] be with us. And very innocent they are, extremely innocent. And when we worship Shri Ganesh, we have to know if we have been really innocent or not. These days people have become extremely cunning and they don’t mind any amount of cunning. They play all kinds of cunning games on others who are innocent and simple. They can justify themselves always, that whatever they are doing is the right thing in these modern times when everybody is so cunning. This cunningness can take you to the other extreme of right side, which is very much punishable, in the sense that some people develop all kinds of problems which are physical, you can say. I Myself was overwhelmed that Sahaja Yoga is spreading to all these countries where they have created such good artists and such good program. We didn’t even feel how the time passed. Lastly, the critic – of course I always say, “Don’t criticize others”. But specially the art, when people start criticizing, the art is dying out. [Cut in the video] … And is now only the critics are criticizing is a fact. If not, the art that will come up will be so hideous and heinous that we’d can never enjoy that art, because it will be only for money – cheap type, which can be sold in the market. And this kind of intellectual analysis of everything is responsible also to the decline of pure art. We are doing it all the time. Shri Virata Puja. Cabella (Italy), 5 September 1999. Tonight, we are going to worship Shri Krishna as Virata. First, it is important to understand the incarnation of Shri Krishna. The word ‘Krishna’ comes from the word ‘Krishi’ – ‘Krishi’ means ‘agriculture’. He sowed the seeds of spirituality. And for that, first of all He had to think: “Where are we, as far as spirituality is concerned? How is the land?” So, what had happened at the time of Shri Rama is that he had created lots of maryadas. And by these maryadas people started mentally thinking about it: “I am not supposed to do that, I am not supposed to do this” – it was just a mental binding; it was not spontaneous, it was not ‘sahaj’. As a result, people became extremely serious. They wouldn’t talk much, they wouldn’t laugh, and they wouldn’t enjoy anything. So, Shri Krishna decided that first of all he must remove them from this conditioning. And this conditioning had to be removed in such a manner that they enjoy themselves. Then he found out that there were three suggestions as far as achieving the goal was concerned. So, first one, as he says, is to become a Realised Soul – Stita Pragnya – to go beyond all temptations, to go beyond all ego, to go beyond all kinds of conditioning, and to become a Stita Pragnya. So you can imagine how, in these ten years, we have been able to progress in Sahaja Yoga. Now, today, we are going to have a Guru puja. As I have said, you are all gurus and you want to worship me as your Guru – is alright – but the main thing one should understand [is] that you have become guru, no doubt, because you have the knowledge. You have the Absolute Knowledge, and so we can say you have become gurus, no doubt. But one has to understand that you have reached a state where you can raise the Kundalini, you can give Realisation to others. Also you know what is the Absolute Knowledge. To know the Absolute Knowledge is very important and to assimilate is even much more important. Though we know the Absolute Knowledge, we cannot assimilate it that well. I think he should be given now the title of Ustad, no doubt. The way he has played, I have never heard anybody playing so well, never before. And specially Tappa. Because it’s a very different, I have never heard anyone playing Tappa on sitar. Once only, Siddheswari Devi, as I told you. She sang before Me this Tappa Raag. She was quite an old lady at that time. But I was amazed, She sang it so well, absolutely the masterer. And I also called her ‘You are an Ustad’, I called her.  That’s what I feel now today the way you have really entertained all of them. Also, they appreciate and understand music, that’s the best part of it. You find so many people are seeking the truth, but they don’t know what to find and that’s how they are twisted around, taken to some sort of a false rites. It’s important first of all to know what is the truth that we are seeking. The truth is, if I tell you, it’s very simple: that you are not this body, you are not this mind, you are not this intellect, you are not these emotions, but you are the pure Spirit. That’s what you have to become – the pure Spirit. Sahasrar, the word ‘sahastr’, in Sanskrit language, means ‘one thousand’. And there are one thousand petals in our brain which get enlightened. Of course, the doctors are quarrelling on that point but forget about them. Now these petals are kept ready for our enlightenment, and these are really the nerves, one thousand nerves, which are there for the enlightenment of the brain. So, when the Kundalini rises, she enlightens those one thousand nerves which become like — as you see here, the shape of these flames — like a petal. And that’s why it is called as ‘Sahasrara’ — is the centre of Sahasrara. In the human beings it is a very important centre, because this is the only centre by which we think and we try to stop whatever we don’t like. This is the centre which reacts, reacts in such a manner that, without any discretion we start saying, ‘no’ to this, and, ‘no’ to that, on small things also. Music will bring glory to Sahaja Yoga, Eve of Sahasrara puja, 08/05/1999,Evening Program [Talk after the music program and of the Magic Flute] Sometimes, the words fail to express the feelings of great gratitude for all of you – for putting up this collective effort and such a beautiful concentrated work as a real piece of art.  I had seen “Magic Flute” long time back, when I was in Berlin, and that time – of course I didn’t understand German language, but I absolutely got lost by the rhythm, the music, the tuning and everything.  So, actually the way you have brought in that very, very beautiful piece of art to life – I feel so much grateful to you that you are all Sahaja Yogis, and to Sahaja Yogis to perform this kind of magnificent, tremendous art piece, I don’t know whom to thank, really.  Because now I can see our future, we’ll be going all over the world, taking this music. I cannot imagine how joyous it is to be in collective like this, all of us, and enjoying the bliss of joy, peace and love. I was surprised at certain great talents that came up and who played so beautifully. Individually they were very, very good, something very surprising, and not only that, but it shows there is a divine effect on these artists, no doubt. I’ve been to Slovakia only once, once only I went there, and today to see so many Sahaja Yogis from Slovakia giving such a beautiful performance, of, from Valmiki up to this Kali Yuga and then to Satya Yuga is very remarkable. I don’t know who taught them all these things, at least I did not tell them all these things as far as I remember. But the way, you see, their heart is open now to Sahaja Yoga and to the divine blessings, all these ideas come, trickle down, I mean, unbelievable it is! He won over the death and came out of that dead body with another body which was living body. The body was the same, but one was a dead body and another one was a body which was living. It’s not only symbolic, it actually happened within. After all, He was a divine child, He was a divine person. Actually it has happened within. It’s not just a symbolic thing that He died and He was resurrected into another person or, you can say, into a living person. For Him, what is the death? For eternal beings, there are no deaths. There’s no death for a person who’s eternal. He may, for the time being, look as if He is dead, but He can never die.
