Birthday Puja: Be Sweet, Loving and Peaceful Juhu, Mumbai (India)

Puja for the 61° Birthday (Be sweet, loving and peaceful), Juhu, Bombay (India), 22 March 1984. [Translation from Marathi] I bow to all Sahaja Yogis, saints. It is no longer a birthday after the age of sixty years, but but one should remember that the life is getting shorter day by day and hence the progress (in Sahaja Yoga) should also be correspondingly faster. It is a matter of joy that you have celebrated my birthday with so much enthusiasm. There was so much enthusiasiasm and love. I was overjoyed.Sahaja Yogis have to work (for Sahaja yoga) while leading the worldly lives. They have to look after their children, households, and parents while practicing Sahaja Yoga. I also do the same. I also take care of the world (as a family) while looking after my family, my brothers and sisters, all the relations and my husband. No one should be left aside. So, it is a very difficult task (to manage both). Women panic when a daughter or a son falls sick, something goes wrong somewhere, husband is bad etc. Similarly, men get jittery with a problem in jobs, reduction in salary, financial constraints etc. Also, various other incidents that bring pressure on the minds. However, in these very circumstances the Sahaja Yoga has to be established. If you are away from water and are thirsty, and say that you suppress your thirst, then there is nothing special in it. But you are real Sahaja Yogis when you are detached Read More …

Shri Ganesha Puja: Keep Your Maryadas Mumbai (India)

Shri Ganesha Puja. Borivali, Mumbai (India), 15 January 1984. It is so Sahaj today that the day of celebration has fallen onto the birthday of Shri Ganesh. Every month they celebrate the fourth day of the moon as the birth date of Shri Ganesh. And today is that date. Luckily, we are here for the puja of Shri Ganesha on His birthday. I have said a lot about Shri Ganesha and His importance in our life. He is the giver of wisdom, but this wisdom comes from our innocence—innocence that is innate within us. As children, we are innocent. But as we grow, we start exerting ourselves in a manner that we start losing our innocence. We lose it in two ways: once we have lost our innocence, we cannot believe that others could be innocent. Another is, that we think innocence is not important. Innocence is the sustenance, is the basis of spirituality. If a person doesn’t have innocence, he cannot rise in spirituality. That’s why the first job of Sahaja Yoga is to establish Shri Ganesha within you, to awaken Him. As soon as the Kundalini awakens, you must know that Shri Ganesha comes into being. Without His awakening within you, Kundalini cannot be raised. But it could be temporary, or it could be a permanent thing. It could be very temporary with people who are not yet adjusted to the new method, or to the ways of God’s love. Those who have not understood, or those who Read More …

Makar Sankranti Puja: The Internal Revolution Mumbai (India)

Makar Sankranti Puja, The Internal Revolution, Mumbai (India), January 14th, 1984 I welcome all the Sahaja Yogis from abroad to this great country of yoga. It gives me immense pleasure; I have no words to express, to see Sahaja Yogis coming from all over the world, all over the country to celebrate this special occasion today. It’s so auspicious today that you all should be here; because you are the chosen ones, the soldiers who are going to fight till Satya Yuga is established on this earth. Is the day of revolution. “San-krant” means: “san” means, you know, auspicious, “krant” means revolution. Today is the day of holy revolution. I’ve told you about the rebellion that in rebellion we move in a pendulum from one to another end as a result of inertia. But through the ascent, when we achieve a higher state, it’s only possible when there is a revolution and revolution takes spirally. The movement has to be spiral to land up at a higher position. So, this is the revolution which is the holy revolution. We have known of many revolutions so far; we have had revolutions in our country. In other western countries also we have had revolution on the political grounds, on the grounds of disparities. Many other things have been fought through revolution, but still, the ascent has not been achieved within. I am talking about the revolution within ourselves. In this revolution you are very much helped by your own Mother, the Kundalini, Read More …

Sahasrara Puja: Above the Sahasrar Gorai Creek, Mumbai (India)

Above the Sahasrar, Sahasrar day, Gorai Creek, Bombay (India) 5 May 1983. On behalf of all of you, I thank the Sahaja Yogi organisers of Bombay who have made these arrangements, and on my own behalf also, I thank them a lot. This is a beautiful place they have chosen for us. It is also a gift of God that at this time the thing about which I was going to speak, sitting under the same trees, the talk of Sahasrara is taking place. Fourteen years ago or we could say already thirteen years have passed and now the fourteenth year has started this great work of opening the Sahasrara was accomplished in this world. I have told you about this many a times, on every Sahasrara day, as to what had happened, how it was done and what is its importance. But the fourteenth birthday is very important, because man lives at fourteen levels and the day he crosses over the fourteenth level, he becomes a complete Sahaja Yogi. Therefore, today Sahaja Yoga has also become Sahaja Yogi. Like this, God has created fourteen levels within us. If you simply count them, then you know that there are seven Chakras within us; besides these there are two more Chakras, about which you do not talk much. They are the Moon chakra (Lalita chakra) & Sun chakra (Shri chakra). Then there is the Hamsa Chakra. Thus there are three more: seven plus three make ten. Then there are four chakras Read More …

Public Program Mumbai (India)

सार्वजनिक भाषण मुंबई, ४ मई १९८३- Public Program Mumbai  I bow to all the seekers of the truth. Human is unaware that in all his quests he is only seeking God. Even if he is running after any material thing, he is seeking God only the path is incorrect. If he is working for fame and material wellbeing, he is still looking for God.  When he becomes some powerful person and moves around in the world, even then, he is looking for God but his route is wrong. When a man pursues material things like money, property, one finds he is not happy. Excess money leads to bad habits, children are spoilt, etc bad things follow. Then man thinks why have I earned this wealth? For whom these materials were collected? When he will leave this world, he will go empty-handed. However, when you achieve God and your attention stabilizes then these material things take beautiful form. With the divine light material, things disclose new dimensions.  He looks at things with great depth. Just as today, it is a beautiful environment with trees around. When you have not found PARAM(ultimate)Atma (nearest usage in English-God) your thoughts venture to wonder if I had a similar place, trees, I should possess similar terrace, ones you get these things then you think to achieve something else. Hence, we do not enjoy what we have. We think of buying a Car yet not happy then desire to buy a big house yet we desire Read More …

Birthday Program Mumbai (India)

1983-0331 Birthday Program Talk, Bombay, India 1:43:03 I bow to all the seekers of Truth. At the very outset, I would like to thank our revered minister Mr Ram Rao Adhik who has very kindly consented to come and grace this occasion, which is extremely humble from My point of view. Also, I would like to thank Shri Balasaheb Thackeray to come to this program. Apart from that, as you know Mr Rupmatay has been taking so much trouble to organize this program and helped it to be successful. I do not know how to thank all the other Sahaja yogis who have worked so hard to celebrate My birthday which I think is beyond words for Me to express. As we are all Indians and we have a strong mother’s feelings within us. In this Kaliyuga, it was said that it will be known by the way people will treat their mothers. But today when I see this love poured out to celebrate the birthday of your humble Mother, I have no words to say how we are to believe that there is kali yuga still existing on this earth. I am very much thankful to all the Sahaja yogis who have come from abroad. There are so many. They have sent telegrams, flowers, so much that today I have a feeling that of such tremendous joy which is being reflected on me as if I am dazzled and I do not know really how to thank all of Read More …

Birthday Puja: Try to save as many as possible & Havan Mumbai (India)

Celebration of Shri Mataji’s Birthday. Bombay (India), 30 March 1983. First Bhajan, “Bbhay kaya taya Prabhu Jyachare,” was sung. Shri Mataji remarked, “That was My father’s favorite song”. Many people have always asked me that why God created this Universe. Of course, we are not supposed to ask questions to God. It’s easy to ask questions to Mataji when She is giving a lecture. But God is a person who is beyond questions. And why He created Universe is something like why I wore all these ornaments. As I am not habituated of wearing ornaments, but I have to do it. I have to do it just to please you people, or we can say that God created this earth, just to please His own children, just to make them happy, just to make them enter into the Kingdom of God, to give all that what He has got. So He had to create this creation in such a way that He could create His own image, reflect it and make it enjoy itself. It’s a very mutual appreciation, as we call it, andolan. Whatever He does for us, is for His own pleasures. But the beauty of it is that your pleasure is His pleasure. And the other way round is, His pleasure should be your pleasure, too. Once that becomes the fact that the pleasure of God becomes your pleasure, you enter into that beautiful arena of heavenly joy, swargiya anand. Only if it is one-sided enterprise or Read More …

Public Program: The meaning of Swajan Parel, Mumbai (India)

Public Program,Mumbai , India, 17th December 1982  The recording of the advice given by Her Holiness Mataji Shri Nirmala Devi ji on 17/12/1982   at Parel on the occasion of Her Felicitation by ‘Swajan’. She has explained the meaning of ‘what is Swajan’ “All the members of ‘Swajan’ and its organizers, as well as all the self-realized yogis, my greetings to you all! As mentioned, the term ‘Swajan’ signifies a profound concept. The name ‘Swajan’ which we have given to this organization, behind it, there was some mind of mine, which is called Mahamaya. Understanding the word ‘Swajan’ is important. What does ‘Sw’ mean? ‘Sw’ means the soul, those who have found their soul are true ‘Swajan’. At that time, perhaps someone didn’t think why this name was specifically chosen, and why it was said that only those who have found their soul are Swajan, because they too have found the soul. ‘Sw’ has been found. Swajan has been created to attain one’s ‘Sw’, and the difference is that it may not be explicitly stated in Swajan, but it is implicit in that word.” The ‘Om’ is inherent in that we are Swajan, and the soul is ‘Sw’ which is the reflection of the Supreme Soul in our hearts, ‘Sw’ is its essence that is manifested through universal consciousness. That means when a person becomes knowledgeable about the ‘Sw’, he becomes a part of the ‘ Swajan ‘. Now, the ‘Jan’ whom we call, thousands of people wander in the world. Read More …

Felicitation for third re-election to IMCO Ashoka Hall, Mumbai (India)

Shri Mataji praises the marriage, Sir C.P. praises Shri Mataji, Ashoka Hall, Mumbai (India), December 30th, 1980 [First, third and fifth audio, Shri Mataji] It is very heartening to see all this drama. I just can watch a sudden spark, a sudden blow up which is opening a new dimension into the hearts of all the people who are thinking about the future of humanity. It’s a very dramatic movement for them. And how it works out its beauty is even more dramatic. I would say, you can see that it’s very delicate and very beautiful. The words my husband has said about Me, I’ve heard them many a times in the bedroom. [Laughter] But to hear them in the public is most embarrassing. [Laughter]He’s been a very, very kind husband to Me, extremely kind. And as you know I’m bit too independent, and all my ideas are based on a very independent experience of my own. He’s always tried to understand that and to encourage Me. Though, it’s rather difficult, as you know, to understand your Mother, it’s not an easy thing, but he has tried to very much understand Me and my work, which is just my nature. He knows that it’s my nature, and that I can’t help it. The first and the foremost thing I wanted to do was to establish the married life prestige. It’s the most important thing. Unless and until married life is accepted as the base of human evolution, we cannot go further Read More …

Seminar for the new Sahaja yogis Day 2 Cowasji Jehangir Hall, Mumbai (India)

1980-01-29, Seminar for the new Sahaja yogis Day 2, Cowasji Jehangir Hall, Mumbai [Hindi to English translation] Yesterday I explained to you the purpose for which you have come into this world. Why did the Supreme Soul create humans with such effort? And what is the use of this human? For this, the Supreme Soul has arranged within us a system that is extremely beautiful. And with great effort and meticulous planning, this arrangement was made. And all the preparations were gathered inside. But when freedom was given to humans, when humans raised their heads and became complete human beings, they also attained their freedom. Within them were both powers that I explained yesterday, the powers of Ida and Pingala. Ida from which our existence, our existence is formed, and Pingala from which we create, become creative. Due to the functioning of both these powers, within us, the mind and intellect or mind and ego, named two institutions, have been formed. These institutions, if you see, are like two balloons in the head. Which will be shown to you here. These two balloons have been formed inside us, which are called ego and super ego in English. These institutions, due to being densely packed there, the ones at the junction of the two .. when… become completely covered overlapping the soft bone, called fontanels bone, have been completely surrounded by calcium, meaning calcified. Meaning the soft bone that was there has become completely hard. Because of this, you are Mister Read More …

Seminar for the new Sahaja yogis Day 1 Cowasji Jehangir Hall, Mumbai (India)

Seminar for the new Sahaja yogis, Cowasji Jehangir Hall, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. 28 January 1980. I was told that I should address the gathering in English language. I know it would be all right for few people if I address you in English. I think that it is time for us to think that why God has created this beautiful being, human being. Why did He take so much trouble to evolve us from amoeba stage to this? We have taken everything for granted, even to talk of God in these modern times, it is impossible, because according to the intellectuals, He doesn’t exist. They may say whatever they like, but He does, and very much so. Now the time has come, first of all, for us to know why are we here? What is our fulfillment? Have we come in this world just to be born, eat our food, produce children, amass money for them and then die? Or is there any special reason that God loved us so much, that He created a new world of human beings? Also the time has come for us to know that there is God and that His power of love exists, and not only that, but it organizes, it coordinates, it’s dynamic, that He loves and in His love He wants to grant us the kingdom of God, the greatest that was planned for human beings. Let us forget our frustrations, and our turmoils, and our so- called political and economic problems, Read More …

He is going to give you that which is promised –the kingdom of God Patkar Hall, Mumbai (India)

1980-01-02 Public Program, New Year, Mumbai At Patkar Hall I have to speak in English language. I hope you wont start off with language problem. Because love does not have any language. I am talking about love. Of God’s love. That He in His love has created this beautiful universe. In His love He brought you from amoeba to this stage. And in His love He is going to give you that which is promised –the kingdom of God. To do all these things you had to pass through a certain circle of evolution by which you have been brought to this stage of human being and you have to evolve to a higher awareness which is higher than that of a human being. By which you can become the instrument of God’s love and to feel His love and to be endowed by His love and to be graced by Him. And His love is His power. That is His light. Only because He loved this world He created you, the whole universe. And if you have to get your realisation also it is He who has organised within you long time back a method by which you have to have it. So even to say that sahaja yoga is something modern could not be correct. But sahaja yoga has been throughout, is the living process of the whole creation. Sahaja — is born with you. As the seed sprouts you also can sprout. This has been with us Read More …

Advice about Chakras CKP Hall, Mumbai (India)

Advice about Chakras. Mumbai (India), 30 December 1979. It is said that God is love. We have heard that many a times, and many people have explained in their own ways what is love. But to feel that love is the best way of understanding it. Even if you explain or describe in all details, though it is described in all details, you cannot enjoy love without experiencing it. This experience comes to us because God, Himself, has placed within us the mechanism to absorb this love and to manifest it. It is a very delicate mechanism within us, extremely delicate. This mechanism is placed in our heart, and by our ignorance, so many times, we spoil this mechanism or disturb it, or sometimes even completely destroy it. The light of love is joy. Anything else cannot give you joy. It’s only the love that you feel in your heart gives you joy. This mechanism acts in seven layers within us. In the periphery of these seven layers, we have got ripples of this joy arising; they come to the shores of our brain and create the bubbles of joy. But again if the brain is a very rational rock then these bubbles dissolve, giving no effect to the rock. So a loving person is thousand times better than a rational person. But most of the people feel this love only on the periphery of the outermost layer, which is the light of the Mooladhara. As you know that Mooladhara Read More …

9th Day of Navaratri Celebrations, Eve of Navaratr, Puja & Havan Mumbai (India)

9th Day of Navaratri …..made Her bhaktas secure. This huge task took place in an age when the bhaktas were troubled by evil rakshasas and instruments of the devil. Even nowadays.there is no scarcity of devilish people in the world, and the world is enveloped by their demonic thoughts and actions. And that is why humans are trying very hard to come out of it  In this Navratri so many people have got their realization And by receiving this Self Knowledge, they have been able to get rid of all the problems caused due to demonic dominance.  But the biggest thing is that you have become enlightened in Sahaja Yoga And even I never thought that so many people would get their enlightenment. The fact that so many people have got their realization in such a short time has been a milestone And when we look at this milestone we feel that a lot can be accomplished within the year . I’m saying this to you today because you are now Sahaja Yogi’s which means you are not ordinary people; you have got that yoga now, you cannot be yoga bhrashta (realisation is corrupted) and you should move according to this Yoga. It means, if you have a few habits, and you assert your willpower a little bit, I will give you the Shakti to overcome these bad habits. Speaking too much or too  little that is not good. in everything you have to be in the center (balance). don’t go Read More …

8th Day of Navaratri Celebrations, Poverty Shree Sunderbhai Hall, Mumbai (India)

Advent Seminar at Sundrabai Hall. Mumbai, India. 29 September 1979. Shri Mataji: Shri Vijay Merchant, Mr. Rakure, all the Sahaja Yogis who have come here to express their love for Me and all the rest of the people who are in the search of truth. It was really a very gracious of Shri Merchant to come and inaugurate this book. I have been from My childhood watching his cricket. I must say I’m quite a big cricket fan Myself. I think cricket is the game which is really Sahaja, between one extreme of football and another boring game of golf. And I always have been appreciating the way he has been managing our teams and has been such a good captain to our country and I’ve been admiring him, the way he has been able to handle the glory in the field of cricket. Even after that, instead of wasting his life like all other successful people of this life in retirement, he’s doing such a great work, and such a feeling he has for all the downtrodden and the poor people of this country shows that he is a very sensitive personality. I’m very thankful to him the way he is being kind to all of us and have been here and spoke to us about his own work. I agree with him entirely that the downtrodden or the ones who are not so well off as we are or, we can say, the one who is not such Read More …

7th Day of Navaratri Celebrations, Kundalini and Kalki Shakti Mumbai (India)

7th Day of Navaratri Celebrations, “Kundalini and Kalki Shakti” Mumbai (India), 28 September 1979 Today I am going to address you in English language, as desired by you. Even tomorrow perhaps we may have to use this foreign language. Today’s subject is the relationship between Kundalini and Kalki. The word kalki actually is an abbreviation of the word nishkalanka. Nishkalanka means the same as My name is, which means nirmala — that it is a spotlessly clean thing. Something that is spotlessly clean is nishkalanka, without any spots on it. Now, this incarnation has been described in many Puranas: He will be coming on this Earth on a white horse, in a village of Sambalpur, they call it, Sambhalpur. Is very interesting how people take everything so literally. The word sambhala means: bhala is this forehead, sambhala means “at that stage”. That means Kalki is situated on your bhala. Bhala is the forehead, and here He is going to be born. That is the real meaning of the word Sambhalpur. In between Jesus Christ and His destroying incarnation of Mahavishnu, called as Kalki, there is a time given to human beings to rectify themselves, for them to enter into the Kingdom of God. Which in the Bible is called as Last Judgement — that you will be judged, all of you will be judged on this Earth. The population of the world is the maximum, they say, because all those, practically all those who had aspirations to enter into the Read More …

6th Day of Navaratri Celebrations, Shri Kundalini, Shakti and Shri Jesus Hinduja Auditorium, Mumbai (India)

Advice (Hindi) “Shri Kundalini Shakti and Shri Jesus Christ”. Hinduja Auditorium, Bombay (India), 27 September 1979. The subject “Shri Kundalini Shakti and Shri Jesus Christ” is very attractive and interesting. It is altogether a new subject for the common people because nobody has at any time before, attempted to establish any connection between Jesus Christ and Shri Kundalini Shakti. On the Virata tree of religion, saints of various kinds bloomed as flowers in many countries and languages. It is only the Virata who can know the relation inter-se amongst these beautiful flowers. Wherever they went, these flowers spread the sweet fragrance of religion. But even the people surrounding these saints could not grasp the significance of that fragrance. It is therefore, futile to expect the common people to understand the relation inter-se between a saint and the Adi-Shakti, the primordial Mother. You would be able to experience or understand my view-point if you could attain the plane from which I am talking to you. Because at present, you do not have the necessary equipment to comprehend whether or not what I am telling you is the truth. In other words, you are not yet equipped to understand what the truth is. Until you are able to understand the meaning of the Self, the physical body would remain imperfect and would be unable to verify the truth. But once the physical instrument is connected with truth, you are able to verify the Truth. It follows therefore, that first you have to Read More …

5th Day of Navaratri Celebrations, Guru Tattwa (Mahima) and Shri Krishna Mumbai (India)

5th Day Of Navaratri Celebrations, Guru Tattwa (Mahima) And Shri Krishna, 1979-09-26 [Hindi to English translation] The place of the guru is a very high place within us. The place of the guru is situated within us; there is nothing new to do in it. The instruments that the divine has created, this instrument has been made with great beauty. Each of its Chakras, which are invisible to us and are within us, through which this universe is beautifully created; but man lives in excess, always going to extremes, he has spoiled his own instrument. Similarly, the place of the guru has also been spoiled by man. The place of the guru is within us, in this France, in this entire country. It is connected to the four sides of the navel chakra inside the stomach. Three days ago, I spoke to you about the navel chakra. The place of Lord Vishnu is on this navel chakra. It is due to the power of Vishnu Shakti that humans evolved from amoebas to humans. And it is through that same power that you are becoming super humans from humans. Now, the power of the guru that is already developed within us by the divine, many gurus have descended before for this purpose. Now, first, let’s see how this guru principle is formed, for this, we should understand that the guru principle is beginning less and how it was created. Within us, three powers operate invisibly. The first power is what we Read More …

1st Day of Navaratri Celebrations, Shri Kundalini, Shri Ganesha Mumbai (India)

1st Day of Navaratri Celebrations, Shri Kundalini, Shri Ganesha 22-09-1979 [English Translation from Marathi] On today’s auspicious occasion, in a pleasant environment, such a beautiful subject – seems that many coincidences have come together. Till date nobody suggested me to speak on the subject of worship but it is so important. Especially in this land of Yoga (Yogabhumi), in our land of Bharat (India), especially in this holy land of Maharashtra, the Goddess of nature has come up with the creation of Ashtavinayakas, so what is the greatness of Ganesha, what is the importance of Ashtavinayakas etc is not known to many people. I am very surprised at this. Perhaps the people who understood everything, who knew everything – those great ascetics and saints of our holy land – they must not have been given the liberty to express, or may be nobody listened to them. Any amount of explanation about this will be inadequate and even seven lectures instead of one would be insufficient for me to speak about Shri Ganesha. Today’s auspicious day is that of ‘Ghata Pujan’.  Ghatasthapna is primordial. When this universe was created, many times. The universe has not been created only once but many times. When this universe was created, first they installed the Ghata (container). What do you mean by Ghata? One needs to understand this very deeply. Firstly, the Almighty resides in the state of Bramhatatva,(universal element or principle). We will call it entropy in English.   When there is no movement Read More …

Sahaja Yoga and Christianity, They Are All Seeking Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, London (England)

Public program, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, London (England), May 7th, 1979 [Unclear.] Music is a very great instrument for the Spirit to manifest itself. Especially Vina is one of the Adivaadyas, they call them, or you can say the musical instrument, which is a very important instrument for inciting the Kundalini also. As he is a Realised soul, it will definitely act on people whenever he will play. I am sure it is going to give him a great success. May not be to many people it will appeal, but it will definitely go to people who are seeking and who are deep within themselves, asking for the answers of many absolute questions. The seeking is a fashion today, in the West, and also it is very genuine among many. What are we seeking in life? What do we expect to seek? One thing we know that we are not satisfied with whatever things we have. We are not satisfied with our material being, neither with our emotional being, neither with our mental being. Always the joy is followed by unhappiness. That means that there is something imperfect within us, something lacking very much. If that was not so, we would have been happy like the birds, like the flowers, like the animals. This lacking is felt only in this form which we call as a human being. Only in the human being, one feels that there is something that is missing in life. Because in the evolutionary path, as you Read More …

Sahaja Yoga & the Subtle System Mumbai (India)

“Sahaja Yoga & the Subtle System” (Hindi). Mumbai, Maharashtra (India). 22 March 1979. [English translation from Hindi] There was some misunderstanding. Some other people had booked this hall and they were saying that they will not vacate it before 8 o’clock. However, in Sahaja Yoga, it happens many times. I told you yesterday that you are a beautiful creation of nature. God Almighty has created you with great love, effort, and compassion. You are very special being who has been transformed into human form after taking countless births in different forms. You do not understand its importance because you have got it very easily. You would have realized its importance if you had put in lots of effort and worked very hard to get it. Then you must have been aware of the fact that you are such a special person. Humans must understand as to why God has created them after going through a lot of labour. Why did you come to this world? What is your future? What is its meaning? As I told you yesterday if we make this machine and never use it, there is no point in making it. Also, you cannot use it, until it is connected to the mains. Likewise, till the time you are connected to your creator, you cannot know about Him. Many saints and yogis have described Him and a lot is mentioned in many books. You must have heard about the all-pervading power of God Almighty who takes care Read More …

Birthday Puja Mumbai (India)

Birthday Puja. Mumbai, Maharashtra (India). 21 March 1979. My heart is overwhelmed. Till date, this birthday has been regularly celebrated in Bombay [former name for Mumbai]. Had to work really hard in Bombay; had to work the most, here. People often ask me, “Mother, why do you need to work so much in Bombay?” Initially, I stayed here, and, then I felt that there is so much work that can be done in Bombay. However, some shadows are cast over Bombay. Now in Delhi, even less work amounts to a lot more. Lot of work has been done in villages too. Undoubtedly, thousands have got their realization. A lot of work has been done, even in a city like London. But, people of Bombay have an ominous shadow cast upon them. I think they are too indulged in materialism. Strangely, we have worked the most in Bombay and yet have the least number of Sahaja Yogis here. Can’t find a reason for this. Often, I contemplate, especially when people question me, “Mother, why do you devote so much time in Bombay? Why is Bombay so special?”, although I am quite wary of cities. Because in cities, you have money, and, there are already enough conmen who ready to rob you. Since you have money, you prefer to go to these conmen. You run behind these circus owners. Thousands run to the sermons of such people; they do not seek the truth. They constantly experiment with the power of money that Read More …

Seminar, Avdhootas Bombay YMCA, Mumbai (India)

22nd January 1979 – YMCA Hall, Andheri (A talk about ‘Avdhootas’) Some of our sisters have started the work of spreading the knowledge of Atma in this area. And we are seeing here – that a person(Mother seems to be referring to some person) who praises the avdhootas and is a devotee of lord Dattatreya, he has supported this effort. This is indeed something special. Ultimately, Avdhootas are our children as well. Although, they have a different state – their efforts are different, so are their rewards. They are great people. They are in their own different worlds. Everyone has earned their powers. They do work for you as well, that is going on as well. They are big people – if you call them my children that’s fine too. But so far I wasn’t able to chance upon meeting them. Because the genuine ones have left the society to live in the forests and mountains. If I ask them to come down they say – “we will come down after 10 or 12 years, the people below are all donkeys”. That is their style. You see, all of them have got their realization through their own efforts. Like a brother says while referring to his younger sibling – “I went through so many hardships and had to suffer so many ordeals, but this fellow over here gets it without doing anything”. So it comes as no surprise if they have the same mentality – because they have slogged a Read More …

Deities on all chakras Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai (India)

Public program, “Deities on all chakras” (Hindi). Bharat Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. 17 January 1979.  (Conversation with a man) “Are you coming now? Not coming, right? Did you used to smoke cigarettes?” “Never!” “Never smoked? Or someone might have recited a mantra?” “Used to recite earlier, not anymore.” “That’s it! Look, you used to chant mantras; your Vishuddhi Chakra has been caught. I’ll show you from the Vishuddhi Chakra, I’ll tell you now. See, these two nerves run here, this specialty is in the Vishuddhi Chakra and not in any other chakra. These two nerves run from here. These are both channels. So when you face your hand towards me, it comes from the hand. There are two nerves in the hand. So these nerves have disappeared. If a person’s Vishuddhi Chakra is caught, then you won’t feel anything in the hand.” Many people reach a point where they feel everything from within; they feel it in their body, but not in their hands. They feel it inside. Kundalini is here, it’s in the head, you will feel all this, but not in the hands. “Mother, how do you know when there is a perfect peace, that the Kundalini is there? When you touch others, you will automatically know inside. You will also know within yourself. I’ll tell you how to establish it. You don’t need to know too much about it. It is known from within. Just like you know whether something is hot or cold.” Speak up! Read More …

Shri Ganesha & Mooladhara Chakra Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai (India)

Public program, “Shri Ganesha, Mooladhara Chakra” (Hindi). Bharat Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. 16 January 1979. Before delivering the speech, let me tell you, keep your hands like this and sit comfortably. And keep your attention towards me. Not here and there, that someone has come, some have gone. Don’t put your attention here and there. Because we keep seeing others all the time, sometimes there should be time to look at ourselves too. Yesterday I told you about these chakras. Today I will talk to you about the chakra at the bottom which is called Ganesh Chakra. We believe in Ganesh ji, we also worship Ganesh ji. And they also know that there are Ashtavinayaks in Maharashtra, the eight Ganesha, have emerged from the earth element. But we know very little about this. And we do everything because our elders have told us. Seeing this fanaticism, people started saying that such, God, whom we cannot see, something is happening due to all blindness. So it is better that instead of not believing God in this way, we should work by keeping faith in ourselves. Now Ganesh is such a big thing, I will tell you about it now. Ganesha is a principal, an element. This is not a god etc. This is the one element, which is the element of God. That is the essence of purity. God created this Ganesh ji before creating this entire universe. Believe that first the purity was created in this world. No matter Read More …

Public Program Day 2 Birla Kreeda Kendra, Mumbai (India)

Public Program Day 2, Birla Krida Kendra, Mumbai (Hindi), 15 January 1979. It is worth mentioning that a public program has happened for the first time though we have had such programs from this cooperation in this building in the past and many people benefitted from it. Today, I am going to tell you some things about your selves. Perhaps you people don’t realize why God has created you and you don’t even wonder just why did the Divine have to work so hard into creating such beautiful creatures like yourselves. Why did God create you as a human being, you don’t ponder on this question because you have no time to think about who we are and why have we arrived in this world. After all, what is the purpose of all this, after aeons and aeons when you have evolved from the stage of an amoeba, what is the purpose? We don’t think about these things. The reason being, our attention is always on the external matter. Our attention cannot internalize itself. If I ask you to look inwards, what lies inside you, you people cannot. You will ask me, “Mother, how is it possible that we can internalize our attention?” I am seeing you people, whose attention is always on outer things but if I tell you to internalize your attention, it looks very difficult for you. How is it possible that we take our attention inwards, know ourselves and realize who we are. The doctors will Read More …

Public Program Birla Kreeda Kendra, Mumbai (India)

Public Program (Hindi). Birla Krida Kendra, Mumbai (India). 14 January 1979. I hope you have come here in search of truth. I am speaking to you in Hindi. If there are some people, who do not understand Hindi at all, then I will speak in English also. Okay. Only humans can be in search of truth. Animals cannot be. They do not need it. Only man has a need for it, that he should know the truth. Only man is in a state, where he knows that something is hidden from him and he does not fully understand why he has come into this world. He is always in confusion about whether the aim of his life is only to eat and drink and to live and die like animals. Is there any truth other than this?  The quest for truth gets awakened only in a man’s brain. But when we search in the name of truth, we do not know what we understand to be the truth. Like when man started thinking, he put his attention towards material things in the world. He has gone to such an extent, now he has reached the moon. What truth did he find there? Moon was explored. What truth did he get there? Those who have made scientific discoveries thought they are progressive, very advanced. They thought they have conquered the whole universe based on science. Today you go and visit their countries and see, each household is falling apart, every child Read More …

What is the Kundalini and how it awakens Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai (India)

Talk in Hindi at the Bharat Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. 9 January 1979. [English Translation from Hindi] I feel glad about meeting everyone. A human being reads, listen from people, listen to lectures, big scholars come and give lectures, many books have been written, that there is a kingdom of God in this world. God has made this world. Do your hand like this. Sit like this till I give the lecture. During this only kundalini will be awakened. Today I am going to tell you what is kundalini and how it can be awakened. Yesterday I told you that the human body we are looking at today, powers running this human body are flowing inside us. Though we do not know those secret flow of energy because of which we have all the powers today. We do the business of our body, mind, intellect, ego, etc. From science, we have known about them. We have only known that there is some autonomous nervous system that runs everything. These powers do this work and we can’t say much about these powers like how these powers are and how they work. The process of knowing anything can be your search for that thing in the darkness. Like you have come in this room, and there is darkness here, so you explore it slowly and find out what it is. Some people who have come from this door, they might say that it is a pole. Some may have come from Read More …

Sahajyog, Kundalini aur Chakra Mumbai (India)

Sahaja Yoga, Kundalini, and Chakras – Mumbai, 30 January 1978  What is Sahaja? Most of you already know. Guru Nanak Sahib has made great efforts and written much about Sahaja. It is a great blessing upon you all. However, no one knows about it, no one understands. ‘Sahaja’ means ‘Sah’ – together, and ‘Ja’ – born. It is born with you, it is born within you. The right to this yoga is born with you. Every human being has the right to attain this yoga. But you are human then! If you become an animal, you are deprived of this right, or if you become a demon, you are also deprived of this right. If you are a human being in the ordinary sense, then you have the right to attain this yoga. This is the only yoga; there is no other yoga. All other yogas are preparations for it. Some also understand Sahaja Yoga to mean straightforward, simple, effortless, spontaneous, because it is a living happening. Just as your birth, just as residing in your mother’s womb, just as trees laden with flowers, transforming into fruits. Similarly, this is a profound, natural, spontaneous event. And this event, which is, is the ultimate pinnacle of human evolution. Humans are created by the Divine from animals. Do you know why a human is created from an amoeba? All scientists should sit together and ask, what is the reason after all? Imagine I gather a few pieces of wood and bring a Read More …

Atma Ki Anubhuti, Meeting Speech Mumbai (India)

Atma Ki Anubhuti Date : 28th December 1977 Place Mumbai Type Seminar & Meeting Speech   [English translation from Hindi] I had told you the last time what is a soul (Atma), how it is Sachidanand (Sat + Chit + Anand; Truth + Attention + Bliss), and how after being made aware of the soul only humans can achieve these three things. Without self-realization, you cannot know the truth. You cannot achieve bliss. You should have the sensitivity of the soul. Now you can converse with your soul. You can ask the soul. You people are seated, you should ask by stretching your hands like this, is there a God in the world? Does his will reign? You ask these questions in your heart; by stretching your hands like this. Look how strong the flow of vibrations has started. You cannot know any truth unless you get the experience of your soul. Meaning till you get connected. Getting connected to your soul happens very easily in Sahaja Yoga. For some it happens for a very brief period and for some it happens forever.  After getting a connection with the soul we should try to achieve identification with it. Meaning that you have come to know me and I have come to know of you but I have not become you. You are looking at me and I’m looking at you. The moment I start looking with your vision, that is when identification is established. When you enter your soul and then Read More …

The role of Chitta Mumbai (India)

“The role of chitta” talk in Marathi. 18 December 1977. To define God they use the term “sat-chitt-ananda” [Sat-truth, Chitta-attention, Ananda-joy]. And if Spirit is the reflection of God then it should be “sat-chitt-ananda” as well. Now let us look at “chitta”. What is it? Where is it? What exactly happens when we say the chitt goes to places? So, the so-called attention is everywhere. You may say that: “Ok, let my attention go to London”. So it will go there. And you may say: “Let it go to heaven” and so it will. Say you are thinking about your daughter: your attention would then go there. So in a way, you are putting your attention there. So if you just think like: “What is my daughter doing right now?”. There goes your attention to the girl. So the attention is spread out, it is like the sea. You can take your ship and sail to whichever shore you want. The waves of your chitta will take you wherever you wish – There is no restriction whatsoever. But that chitta cannot go within, inside human beings. It spreads outside. So we can think about things outside of us, but not if we want to think about – who we are, what we are. That is because the chitta and atma [Spirit] are divided. The two have been separated from one another in human state. And hence you cannot reach your atma through that chitta. It is just like your car. There Read More …

Prem Dharma, the Dharma of Love Mumbai (India)

Prem Dharma, the Dharma of Love, Mumbai, India, 1977-03-23 Translation from Hindi Many people wonder when they see this for the first time if this is Kundalini awakening or some child’s play? For Kundalini awakening so much has been said, one has to stand on his head, take a whole lot of trouble, how does Kundalini awakening happen naturally? Those who have got their Realisation, many that are present here have got it, you did not know how it happened, but when you watch others who got their Realisation, then you will realise you have got it, because you reached the moon suddenly. How you reached there and what you did for that, you don’t know. There is a reason for that and also there is a purpose for that. Only when the time comes for fruition comes, the fruits are borne. But this does not mean whatever was happening before this was not necessary, that was also necessary, now the fruition is also necessary. Some say that in the last ten thousand years no one attained it, now why is it happening? Ten thousand years ago no one went to the Moon, now how have they gone? If it is happening now, why should you doubt it? Ramdas Swami said, ‘There are some people in this world who are called “padat moorak”, idiots; those who read a lot and become idiots. The same thing poet Kabir Das said, ‘Padi, padi pandit moorak baye’- “A scholar who reads a lot Read More …

Advice at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mumbai (India)

Advice at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (Question and Answers). Bombay (India), 22 March 1977. [ This light is given to you because you give light to others. If you do not give it to others, then slowly this light fades away. You should keep this light on such a path where people are wandering in the dark, and not keep this light under the table where it gets extinguished. You people come there, if you have some problem, someone is sick then we will tell about it also (cure) & in the same way these people will tell you about Sahaj yoga  – Mother speaks in Hindi] [Fadke & other Sahaj yogi go there.  Tell them about kundalini & Sahaj yoga. It will not get finish in 2 days. It takes time. Now we have people with us who are really very good, they know everything about kundalini – Mother speaks in Marathi] They have mastered the Kundalini completely. There are some, you know that, but there are some who have got realization last five years and they don’t know a word. On the contrary, they’ll just come and ask us, “My mother is ill. So please treat her.” “My father is ill.” “You treat me.” “My this thing is ill.” That’s all. They are good for nothing. So now you have to also give to others and you have to realize yourself and to be the light of Sahaja Yoga. It’s a great pleasure. It’s a greatest joy to give Read More …

Birthday Puja: Understanding Sahaja Yoga Through Heart Mumbai (India)

54th Birthday Puja, Understanding Sahaja Yoga Through Heart Mumbai (India), March 21st, 1977 … the most honorable sahaja yogi, Justice Vaidya, and his most loving wife. Mr. Bakshi, (…tape interruption…) Dhumal, Mr. Gavin Brown who is an archeologist, Dr. Pramila Sharma, who is a Professor of Hindi and is a Master of Kabira’s literature, and then Mrs. Jane Brown who is a geologist, they are from Cambridge University; and our wise chairman Mr. Zachre, also the gracious singer Mrs. Shobha Gotu who has been very kind to come and sing, and in Marathi she said: “I am unable to do anything else, so Mother, I will just sing two bhajans for You.” All the sahaja yogis who have come here, all the other people who have joined us here, who are celebrating this earthly birthday of Mine, I am very thankful, very grateful and I am filled with great joy and happiness. And my vibrations are flowing from My eyes as tears to see that, in this Kaliyuga also, there are people who are grateful to a Mother who just gives a abstract thing known as vibrations. Actually I do not give you, I cannot give or take, you’ll be surprised. It’s just emitted through me. It is my ‘swabhava’ [innate nature]. It has to be that way, I can’t help it. It is a ‘being’ that is being. You cannot make it something else. It acts on its own; it goes on working. It is beyond Me to control Read More …

Talk to Sahaja Yogis Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai (India)

Talk to Yogis (English/Hindi) [English transcript] I will be giving you the information about Kundalini. At the same time, the Kundalini would be rising. You won’t feel the rising of the Kundalini. So please put your hands like this. The hands are asking for realization, so in the hands, there should be a feeling, I mean you must ask, the hands should be placed in such a manner that you are asking- Straight like this not like that and on your laps.  [Hindi translation] Keep hands towards me. Humans should ponder, why has Paramatma made us? Is there a purpose for our life or God has made us just like that from amoeba to human? After taking so much trouble for so many yugas, after passing through so many vagaries, Paramatma has made a beautiful handiwork of human beings, He must have done this for some reason. Maybe he (human) has not reached that state where he can know this- why has this handiwork been made? Maybe he has not understood why he has been created. But there definitely must be some or other reason why humans have been made from amoeba. If there is a reason, it is absolutely necessary for the human to find it out. When he cannot find it out, cannot know it,  it is quite natural for him to be upset. It is natural that he is worried, upset and nervous. He does not know what is causing this nervousness. Why is he so busy Read More …

Letter Mumbai (India)

Letter The other argument that I gave in my book is about a doctor who thought that the second birth is possible only through sex and I told him that: “you were born because of your parent and not by your own activity. To say that, when you love fully you must have sex that means you love someone for sex and that without it your love is not expressed. The absolute value of love is thus challenged. Also, how can you have sex with all the people all the time? It is not possible. Then how can you love the people “fully” all the time?,,,it so foolish and absurd that I cannot argue on such empty grounds. http://www.sakshi.org/River/kathman.htm

Samarpan, Surrender Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai (India)

1977-01-08 Samarpan: Kuch bhi nahi karnahai (Surrender) [English Transcript] It is inaction. When you say how we should do it, then you are thinking, that is not Sahaj. You cannot go back saying that I don’t do anything. You are all the time forward, moving forward, saying how? [Hindi to English Translation] How will you go forward? Accepting that this event takes place towards consciousness and that consciousness itself makes it happen, we should stop trying to make any effort completely. When we are in inaction / akarma then only this consciousness happens. That means you don’t have to do anything at all. This is a very difficult task for human being. If nothing else, man keeps thinking. But when this event takes place then your thoughts stop as well because till now whatever sadhana (daily spiritual practice / effort) you have seen involves some kind of an action from you, and these actions/efforts take you outwards. Sahaja Yoga is an event that happens inside. When people ask how do you surrender, it is straight-forward, you do not have to do anything, then you are surrendered. Human beings have never walked on this path or in this direction, so this is a new thing and a new way for man in which he does not have to do anything. Instead, things happen on their own. Because man has done a lot and has gone very far away from his inner self, and that is why it is very difficult to Read More …

Spirits of the dead Mumbai (India)

“Spirits of the Dead,” Bombay (India), 22 December 1976 Now, the question is, for a modern man, whether to believe that there are [dead] spirits or not. Because it’s a very unknown area. And the unknown area, unless and until it is fully explored and found out, always creates a hallucination that it is something divine. So, we have to know even about spirits: who are they, how they act, and how they work out. Now, many will say that, “We do not believe in spirits.” Whether you believe it or not — but they are there. Christ, He was not a liar. He took out spirits and put them in the pig. And He is the man who very clearly said that, “Keep away from the spirits.” The spirits are the people. We can be spirits tomorrow if we want to be. When we die, we do not die fully. Only the element of earth, which has created us… for appearance, or which is the… we can say, the Jala Tattva [Water Principle], with the gross form — that portion only dies, the rest of it remains. And it goes into an area which we call as Pretaloka [the world of the dead], where it starts becoming smaller and smaller till it comes to the size of a foetus, or, you can say, a very small foetus. It waits there. But some of the people, when they die, they are dissatisfied souls. In Sanskrit, we call them as atrupta Read More …
